The body of a missing hiker from Cambridge, Massachusetts, was found Monday in the White Mountains, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.
William Donovan, 65, was reported missing on April 16. Fish and Game said his body was located in the Dry River in Cutts Grant at about 10:30 a.m. Searchers started combing the area after a gear and jacket, believed to have belonged to Donovan, were found over the weekend by hikers. Officials said Donovan's body was found about 400 feet upstream from where the jacket was discovered.
The body was located under a large boulder just over 2.5 miles into the woods from Route 302, according to Fish and Game. Due to the size of the boulder, freezing cold water temperatures and a lack of tools needed to move the boulder, additional resources were called to assist.

Fish and Game said crews carried Donovan's body out of the woods and arrived at Route 302 at about 6:40 p.m. Officials said it appears Donovan was forced off the ridge between Mount Monroe and Mount Eisenhower, likely due to high winds or bad weather. His body was taken to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Concord for an autopsy.
The initial search team consisted of conservation officers, drone teams from Androscoggin Valley Search and Rescue (AVSAR), New England K9 and the Upper Valley Wilderness Response team. Volunteers from AVSAR Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue and Mountain Rescue Services all responded to help.
