Rio En Medio Trail #163


Area Status: Closed

THIS TRAIL IS CURRENTLY CLOSED UNDER A CLOSURE ORDER DUE TO THE 2020 MEDIO FIRE. Monsoon rains have caused flash flooding in the burned area, and the trail is not safe for hikers.

With cascading waterfalls and a small mountain stream running along it, the Rio En Medio trail is 6.7 miles long. It begins at end of SF County Road 590 (village of Rio En Medio VERY limited parking - do not block the road) and ends at Trail 254, near Aspen Ranch. The trail is open for the following uses: hiking, equestrian.

There are only two to three spaces for vehicles to park at the trailhead in Rio En Medio.  Please do not block the road, there are residences beyond the trailhead who use this access.  If the trailhead is full, try hiking the trail from the top to the bottom.  there is much better parking on the top near Aspen ranch.
