MARGARET BENSON OBITUARY

BENSON, MARGARET “MAGGIE,” 89, passed away peacefully Nov. 23, 2012 in Orlando, FL. Margaret was born in Iron Mountain, MI in 1923. When she graduated from Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing in 1945, Henry Ford himself presented her with her diploma. Margaret served in the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II, afterward caring for thousands of patients during her many decades as a Registered Nurse. She moved to Orlando in 1989, where she was active in church and charitable activities. Margaret is survived by her daughters Julia (Niall) Connolly of Orlando and Jane (Mark) Jaworski of Fort Wayne, IN; grandsons Benson (Christina) Hughes of Jacksonville, FL, Jackson Jaworski of Fort Wayne, and Giles Connolly of Orlando; granddaughter Sarah Jaworski of Fort Wayne and great-grandson Fletcher Hughes of Jacksonville. A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m. at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1655 Peel Ave, Orlando, FL 32806. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret’s name to the Nursing Education Fund, Henry Ford Health System, 1 Ford Place, 5A, Detroit, MI 48202.
