Darvin Ham is out at the Los Angeles Lakers after the iconic Californian team suffered another whimpering NBA Playoffs loss at the hands of the Denver Nuggets.

As a result the hunt for a new coach is now on, with so many options out there leaving president, Jeanie Buss, confused on how to handle it.

Could LeBron James' decision to play with Bronny jeopardize his final years?

With newcomers, veterans and all those in between showing an interest in the Lakers job, especially as they'd get to work with LeBron James, the group has the chance to pick who they want. They've already scratched some off the list such as Mike Budenholzer and Charles Lee, who have signed elsewhere.

But who are they actually set to sign? The answer was revealed to the Pat McAfee Show by an NBA Insider.

"I would look at names like Kenny Atkinson, JJ Redick," The Athletic's Shams Charania said to Pat McAfee. "Those two names are potential as well.

"Even guys like David Adelman, whose an assistant coach in Denver right now. James Borrego, an assistant coach in New Orleans right now. They are going to have a wide net and I would expect them to interview an abundance of candidates."

He added that interviews are expected to take place around next week, so May 13-19.

Who are the surprise options on the market?

The Lakers could also pull a complete wildcard and go with somebody who doesn't have a lot of experience. They might even move in that direction after the Milwaukee Bucks have released a trio of key staff.

Assistant coaches DJ Bakker, Josh Oppenheimer and Sidney Dober will all depart the organization, so will Jeanie Buss go nuclear and select someone nobody was actually thinking of?

Bakker has the least experience. But Oppenheimer and Dober blew up at Milwaukee by helping to inspire the Bucks to their first NBA Championship since 1971 when they defeated the Pheonix Suns in 2021.
