Thanks to the unique blend of real and scripted that WWE gives us, the fans have an equally unique affinity for the good and the bad. Whereas other sports franchises are thought of as “long-suffering” because of certain team’s losing streaks, wrestling fans don’t think that way. For the most part, even when complaining about the most mundane or nuanced aspects of the business, they still love and adore it - almost in spite of what they're upset about.

The Berzerker Waged War In WWE

He Notably Yelled “Huss! Huss! Huss!” During His Matches

  • The Berzerker was once part of a team with the legendary Bruiser Brody.
  • While mostly a midcarder, he did once challenge Bret Hart for the WWE Championship.
  • The Berzerker also had a short feud with The Undertaker.

Managed by the devious Mr. Fuji, The Berzerker, was one of the perfect midcard acts of a bygone age. A Viking madman who even wielded a sword in the ring, The Berzerker was a nasty brawler who’d be able to take nearly anyone out. More often than not, he’d do it by heaving his opponents outside the ring for the count-out victory.

Velvet McIntyre Was Ahead Of Her Time

McIntyre Captured WWE Gold During The 1980s

  • Velvet is one of the few females to ever wrestle barefoot in WWE.
  • Velvet McIntyre held both the Women's and Women's Tag Team Championships in WWE.
  • She is also the first woman to win the original WWE Women's Tag TeamTitles (with Princess Victoria).

In commentary during her matches, Gorilla Monsoon would refer to Velvet McIntyre as “a gamer,” a scrappy underdog. Which is exactly what she was. Velvet (no relation to Drew) McIntyre challenged The Sensational Sherri and eliminated her during the women’s 1987 Survivor Series bout.

The Women's Evolution was a monumental shift in the WWE's landscape. These are the wrestlers who most impacted the historic change.

The Red Rooster Crowed About His Character

The Origin Of The Box Of Gimmicks

  • According to Taylor, he believes he was in line for the Mr. Perfect gimmick over this one.
  • Bruce Prichard stated The Red Rooster was to be “the cock of the walk" originally.
  • The gimmick ruined any credibility Terry Taylor had in wrestling.

Terry Taylor was one of the smoothest young workers the NWA had seen in a long time. WWE looked to snag that energy and dubbed him The Red Rooster. According to WWE brass, Taylor didn’t fully understand the idea behind the arrogant gimmick and instead gave himself a crimson streak in his hair and would peck around the ring and cawed out like the farm fowl.

Repo Man Tried To Smash Through

Barry Darsow Did All He Could To Make Reposing Work

  • Repo Man was part of the long list of gimmicks for Barry Darsow.
  • Comically, his biggest feud was against The Macho Man over repossessing Macho’s cowboy hat.
  • Repo Man lost to Randy Savage in third episode of Raw.

“What’s mine is mine and what’s yours is mine too!” cackled The Repo Man in plenty of interviews during his time in WWE. While not having much of a memorable run, his strange outfit is what stands out the most. Instead of a corporate sort of muckety-muck, Repo Man looked like a 1966 Batman villain with his trench coat, tire tread tights, and black domino mask.

The Brooklyn Brawler Is Wrestling's Most Famous Jobber

Steve Lombardi Played A Lot Of Different WWE Gimmicks

  • Brawler was a backstage agent for years along with his in-ring career.
  • Despite being a jobber, Brawler was paired up with Bobby Heenan at one point.
  • Brawler played several other roles too - including Kim Chee and Doink.

In the world of journeyman wrestlers, no one was a bigger name than Steve Lombardi - The Brooklyn Brawler. While he was a perennial jobber, he also got a lot of great opportunities match-wise whenever the WWE came to New York. Including his last big high profile appearance, teaming up with The Miz & Alberto Del Rio to defeat 3MB in a six-man tag team match.
