TRINIDAD and Tobago’s men’s national football coach Angus Eve has included experienced defenders Sheldon Bateau, Andre Raymond, Robert Primus, Justin Garcia, Jamal Jack, Ross Russell Jr, Joshiah Trimmingham and Alvin Jones in his squad for two friendly internationals against Guyana, set for Monday and Wednesday.

In addition, Eve has also rewarded players who’ve enjoyed a good domestic season in the Trinidad and Tobago Premier Football League (TTPFL) with inclusion for selection in his squad.

Among those in that sphere are 17-year-old former San Juan North Secondary midfielder Lindell Sween, who currently plays for Massy Motors Morvant Caledonia FC, as well as goalkeeper Aaron Enill, who is enjoying a stellar season with Prisons FC.

Among the newcomers are Tobagonian Adriel George of 1976 Phoenix FC, AC Port of Spain’s defender Liam Burns, Daniel David of Terminix La Horquetta Rangers, Simeon Bailey of Police FC, and Ezekiel Kezar, the prolific Point Fortin Civic Centre striker.

Eve’s squad also includes veteran Sheldon Bateau whose European season has ended, and former Portuguese-based left-back Raymond, who played in the CONCACAF Nations League quarter-final against the USA last year but is now unattached.

Brent Sam, Matthew Woo Ling, Duane Muckette, Jack, Michel Poon Angeron, Shervhonez Hamilton, Ross Russell Jr, Isaiah Lee and Trimmingham have all been around the national team before, without cementing a regular place.

Hometown hero Brandon King’s tenth T20 International half-century gave the West Indies a 1-0 lead in the three-match series against South Africa as the hosts romped to an easy 28-run victory in the opening game at Sabina Park, in Jamaica, yesterday.

TTO INTERNATIONAL Nikoli Blackman has been selected to spearhead a 34-member national swimming squad to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the 2024 Central American and Caribbean Swimming Confederation (CCCAN) Championships to be hosted in Monterrey, Mexico from July 17-22.

The swimming venue will be the renowned Centro Acuático Olímpico Universitario.

BIG SEPoS (South East Port of Spain) lost both finals when the curtain fell on their Spike Fest II Indoor Volleyball Tournament Sunday night at the Eastern Regional Sports Arena, Tacarigua.

West Side Stars upset them 25-20, 21-25, 15-9 for the women’s crown after going down when they clashed in the round-robin group stage a couple weeks earlier.
