More Torchwood Revealed from Big Finish

Big Finish Productions’ long-running monthly series of full-cast Torchwood audio dramas follows characters from throughout the universe of the popular Doctor Who spin-off. Story, writers and cast details are revealed today for four upcoming releases, featuring multiple names new to the range.

July’s Art Decadence introduces a new era of Torchwood’s history, the Roaring Twenties, and some brand-new stars in the shape of top agent Sir Reginald Dellafield (Wilf Scolding) and his trusty butler sidekick A. C. Forster (Simon Kane).

In August, Naoko Mori returns to the role of Toshiko Sato for the first time in over a year, in End Game, a story which sees her involved in a simulated apocalypse.

There’s another returning star of the Torchwood TV series in September’s The Hollow Choir. Rhys Williams (Kai Owen) is on a rescue mission, in a script that marks the Big Finish debut of acclaimed horror and science fiction authors Helen Marshall and Malcolm Devlin.

And Widdershins, released in October, is the range’s Halloween special. With a script by Guy Adams, it stars Cerith Flinn (Wolfblood) as a man haunted by the Devil – or perhaps by Torchwood.

Meanwhile, the cover for July’s Torchwood: Soho boxset, Ascension, has also been unveiled. The six episode mystery reunites the 1950s Torchwood team of Norton, Andy, and Gideon as they investigate the mass disappearances of religious congregations. Could the Rapture really be at hand?

Writer James Goss describes Ascension as featuring “Norton goes to Heaven – Lizbeth goes to Siberia – Gideon visits Stonehenge – Andy makes jam. Plus government conspiracies, mysterious aliens, and hats.”
