The Black Crowes Break Out ‘Amorica’ Classic & Get ‘Rocks Off’ At The Anthem

The Black Crowes brought their Happiness Bastards Tour to The Anthem in Washington D.C. on Tuesday. The rockers broke out an Amorica cut in the nation’s capital and also offered the tour debut of a classic from The Rolling Stones.

The Black Crowes kicked off the concert with “Bedside Manners,” the opening track on their new album, Happiness Bastards, followed by track two, “Rats and Clowns.” Frontman Chris Robinson, guitarist Rich Robinson and company then got into some classic Crowes material with “Twice As Hard,” off their 1990 debut album, Shake Your Money Maker.

“If it’s cool with you, we’d like to play a song, but you really don’t get a choice,” Chris joked. “I don’t know, I don’t know, I was just being polite. Anyway, we wanna do this song… we made this record called Amorica, and we’d like to play you a song from it. This is called, ‘P.25 London.’”

The band then dusted off the track from their 1994 release. Chris ripped some scorching harmonica over Rich’s swampy crunch on the bluesy number. Watch the Crowes perform “P.25 London” for the first time since December 15, 2013 below:

The rest of the set saw The Black Crowes touching on their 1999 record By Your Side (“Horsehead”) and 2008’s Warpaint (“Oh Josephine”). The band also delivered more tunes from Happiness Bastards including “Follow The Moon,” “Wanting and Waiting” and “Flesh Wound” alongside vintage material like “Thorn In My Pride” and “She Talks To Angels.”

The set came to a close with a trio of classics “No Speak No Slave,” “Jealous Again” and “Remedy.” The Black Crowes returned to encore with the tour debut of The Rolling Stones’ “Rocks Off.” Chris thanked opener Asteroid No. 4 before Rich launched the band into the Exile on Main St. opener. Watch:
