Blackpool is home to not one, not two, but three Victorian piers: North Pier, Central Pier and South Pier. Whether you’re looking for live entertainment, amusement rides, arcades, food stalls and games, there is something for everyone.
Each pier has its unique features which make up our seaside heritage, so why not discover all three? Start your stroll at North Pier, our oldest pier of the three and, at your leisure, walk the Golden Mile towards Central Pier and finish at South Pier. The walk from North to South is around 1.6 miles and will take around 35 minutes (excluding the piers). Don’t fancy the walk? Hop onto the tram to take you on a scenic journey along the Golden Mile every 20 minutes in high season.
Arcades
All of the three piers have an arcade, but Central Pier is usually the most bustling of them all! Try your luck on the fruit machines and soft toy grabber cranes or test your skills on the old school penny pushers - there’s plenty to do in the arcade to pass the time.
Blackpool North Pier
Blackpool North Pier is the longest and oldest pier of the three, dating back to 1863. The North Pier is the only Blackpool pier to hold Grade II listed status and is often classed as a family favourite for visitors.
This charming pier is the epitome of seaside simplicity. Even better, in late autumn to early winter, North Pier is home to a spectacular bird display known as a murmuration. Thousands of starlings sweep, wheel and dart through the sky as they come to roost under the pier. It’s truly a sight to behold, so make sure you have your camera at the ready to catch the display and you might be lucky to see a beautiful sunset as the backdrop!

Blackpool Central Pier
With its wide array of attractions, amusements, shows and shopping, Central Pier is at the heart of the Blackpool coastline and is home to the instantly recognisable Big Wheel.
Central Pier’s Big Wheel was installed in 1990 has become an iconic part of our Blackpool skyline, so don’t miss out on the unmissable views from the top!
Heights not for you? Take a walk along the waves and marvel at the beautiful coastline views – the views are still amazing from ground-level. There is also a mix of fairground rides on Central Pier suitable for all of the family to enjoy throughout the season.
Pirate’s Bay Family Bar is located at the end of Central Pier and there’s something for everyone. With free live entertainment during the summer holidays, this friendly venue is the ideal place to keep your children entertained while you relax after a busy day in the resort.
The Terrace Bar is an outdoor bar situated on the promenade adjacent to the Pier with the beach at your feet. Specialising in gin and prosecco, served from our custom built bars constructed from shipping containers which have been teamed up with modern decking areas and a retractable sun roof with heaters (for when it’s a bit nippy) which will allow you to make the most of those views.
Blackpool South Pier
Blackpool's South Pier is an action-packed fun-filled treat for all the family. Originally known as the Victoria Pier, it opened in 1893 and was renamed South Pier in 1930. The youngest of our piers, now developed as a mini theme park high above the sea.
The Gin House (previously known as The Laughing Donkey) hosting relaxed entertainment throughout the season, indoor seating with no booking required as well as a beer garden with some of the best views in town.
