In 1992 Beckham made his debut for the senior team and in the January of the following year, he signed his first professional contract with Manchester United.

He became an integral part of the Manchester United side of the mid to late 1990s that dominated English football and in 1999 he helped the team win ‘the treble’ (the Premier League, the FA CUP, and the UEFA Champions League).

3 Lessons from David Beckham About Success

Let’s take a look at some of the best lessons we can learn from him about success:

1. Back Yourself

In 1995  and against certain pundit’s better judgment – Manchester United had won the double with kids. David Beckham had played his part, but it was at Wimbledon on the first day of the following campaign that he emerged as a superstar.

Collecting the ball in his own half, the United no 10 glanced up and launched a rocket of a lob over Neil Sullivan from the half-way line with his right foot. No one could predict that that foot would one day feature in a Hugh Grant monologue but immediately English football had itself a new superstar.

2. Be Yourself

In 1998, Beckham and his girlfriend Victoria “Posh Spice” Adams go on holiday to the South of France and take an army of paparazzi with them.

His footballing skills are becoming clear to everyone but with one sartorial swoop, Beckham – wearing a black and white sarong to dinner – becomes so much more than just a sportsman. A brand is born.

3. Bounce Back From Failure

For four years Beckham must have seethed over his red card in the 1998 World Cup, which many blamed for England’s loss to Argentina (in England, people burnt effigies!).

Naturally, England was drawn against their old rivals in the group stages at the 2002 World Cup, setting the stage for another Hollywood ending. This time, Becks was cast as the leading man, not the cartoon villain.

When Michael Owen went down (wonderfully easy, as no one remembers) to win a first-half penalty, fans wondered if Beckham was psychologically robust enough to deal with the spot-kick. He was, drilling it right down the middle to exorcise his French demons.

3 Amazing Lessons From Duncan Robinson

For most Division III players in the NCAA, there are no plans of playing in the NBA or even on any professional level, but not Duncan Robinson.

Robinson set his sights on making it at Michigan and then at the highest level of basketball despite no team selecting him at the NBA Draft.

Now that you know all about Duncan Robinson’s net worth, there’s a lot that can be learned from the former small-time college player that went on to become an NBA star.

Here are some of the best success lessons to learn from Duncan Robinson:

1. Hard Work Pays Off

Dating back to his high school career, Duncan Robinson wasn’t considered to be a star, but that didn’t stop him from working hard.

Robinson continued to plug away in practice and took basketball more seriously, earning himself a spot in the starting lineup during high school.

In fact, Robinson quit his high school job so that he could practice basketball more, and it paid off as he made it to the NCAA.

2. Love What You Do

You can work as hard as you possibly can for something, but if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, it won’t be worth it in the long run.

Robinson had to ask himself during the times he was struggling whether or not he loved basketball, and it turned out he did.

The love for the game made Robinson want to work even harder and make a career out of basketball, and he’s made millions as a result.

3. Mentality Is As Important As Physicality

NBA players are among the most athletically gifted people in the entire world, but even the best athlete can struggle if they don’t have the right mentality.

Robinson has said that what causes him to stand out is that he prioritizes the mental side of basketball by blocking out anything negative that may have happened in the past.

Duncan Robinson very much lives in the moment, and focuses on the shots that he’s taking or the next move he’s making on defense rather than a shot he missed earlier in the night.

Summary

Duncan Robinson has been one of the biggest surprises in the NBA over the past decade and is now a staple of the Miami Heat.

Robinson already defied the odds once by starring at a major college basketball program after starting in Division III.

Now, Robinson is doing it again by establishing himself as a star player in the NBA despite not hearing his name called on draft night.

As of June 2024, Duncan Robinson’s net worth is estimated to be $27 Million.

These 30-point games made him the first Raptor to score 30 points in back-to-back playoff games since Vince Carter, though the Raptors lost to the Nets.

In the 2014-15 season opener, DeRozan recorded multiple career highs, including 11 rebounds and six steals in a 109-102 win.

On April 11th, DeRozan was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month, joining Kyle Lowry and Chris Bosh as the only Raptors to earn the honor.

By December 14th, 2015, he had been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week, becoming the seventh Raptor to hold the title.

The following February, he enjoyed his 233rd career win when he helped Lowry defeat the New York Knicks 122-95.

Becoming A Legend

In July 2016, DeRozan re-signed with the Raptors for five years and later became the first Raptor to start a season with three straight 30-point games.

He continued this streak with five straight 30-point games, setting the best start to a season since Michael Jordan in the 1986-87 season.

DeRozan was named a starter on the Eastern Conference All-Star Team for the 2017 NBA All-Star Game, becoming the fourth Raptor to do so.

At the end of the 2016-17 season, he had a career-high 2,020 points, with a 27.3 average, which was the second highest in franchise history.

In May, he was named to the All-NBA Third Team for the first time, and he started the next season strong right out of the gate.

Adding to his records, he became the first player in NBA history to score over 50 points in a New Year’s Day game.

San Antonio Spurs

After finishing his final season with the Raptors, DeMar DeRozan was traded for Kawhi Leonard to the San Antonio Spurs.

The trade ended up being highly controversial since DeRozan was a fan favorite in Toronto and fans of the team weren’t happy to see him go.

In his debut with the Spurs, DeRozan earned 28 points in a win against the Minnesota Timberwolves and later recorded his first double-double.

During the 2019-20 season, he got off to a good start, and he was invited to the NBA Bubble once the season was suspended due to COVID-19.

After the break, he logged a career-high 14 assists during the 2021 season, but the Spurs were ultimately eliminated from the playoffs.

In August 2021, DeRozan was traded again, this time to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Thaddeus Young, and Chicago was happy to have him.

The Chicago Bulls

After debuting with Scottie Pippen’s former team, DeRozan made two game-winning shots at the buzzer, once in December and again in January.

This made him the first player in NBA history with game-winning buzzer-beaters in two consecutive games, and it earned him his fifth NBA All-Star Game selection.

During the 2022 NBA All-Star Game, he was selected by LeBron James, and his squad defeated Kevin Durant’s 163-160.

In October 2022, he became the 50th player in NBA history to achieve 20,000 career points, something his former Spurs coach honored.

In 2023, he continued setting records and was selected to play as an Eastern Conference reserve in the NBA All-Star Game.

Additionally, DeRozan and Zach LaVine also passed Michael Jordan and Horace Grant’s record for the most points scored in a game by a Bulls duo.
