THREE months after his break-up with actress Angel Locsin, footballer Phil Younghusband admits he is still very much in love with his former girlfriend.
“When you picture your future with someone... You can’t get over them that easy so I still care for Angel. She’s still in my heart and I still love her,” the 26-year old English-Filipino athlete-endorser told the press during the ceremonial opening of the Gatorade-Chelsea Football pitch at the Circuit Makati sports and entertainment complex.
“When you picture your future with someone and you love someone, it’s normal. After naghiwalay kami ng three months, it’s only been three months so of course you still love someone after three months. Hindi ako maniwala na you can fall out of love with someone so quickly,” Younghusband added.
Younghusband said he and the ABS-CBN star are still in communication and even exchanged greetings during Christmas and the New Year.
The popular Azkal said he is not ready to commit to another relationship and considers his football commitments and family as his top priorities.
“Not yet. As I said, gusto kong mag-concentrate sa football and pamilya ko. I’m not ready to love at the moment,” the Azkal striker answered when asked if he plans to see other people.
Younghusband maintained that despite going their own way, he is “okay” and that he and Locsin are still friends.
“Friends pa rin kami ni Angel. We’re in good terms. I wish the best for her. She has “The Legal Wife” (television drama) coming out so I wish her the best with that. I’ll be watching. We’re still friends and you never know, so ..."
Asked if there is still a chance for them to get back together, the footballer put on a brave face and smiled before answering, “Hindi ko alam (laughs). You never know. For me there’s no rules with love. If you love someone that’s what you feel. That’s what the heart wants. You never know.”
“She means a lot to me so I really want what’s best for her. I want her to be happy.”
