The New York Mets have had some amazing pitchers on their staffs (since 1962) including, but not limited too, Tom Seaver, Dwight Gooden and David Cone; however, on June 1, 2012, Johan Santana no-hit the St. Louis Cardinals for the first no-hitter in New York Mets history.

Did you now that on August 19, 2007, Johan Santana struck out seventeen Texas Rangers batters, setting a new team-specific record for most strikeouts in a game by a Minnesota Twins pitcher? Too easy, did you know that on February 1, 2008, Santana signed the largest contract in Major League history (at that time) for a starting pitcher when the New York Mets inked him to a 6-year, $137.5 million deal?

Did you know that Johan Santana was the first Minnesota Twins pitcher to win more than one Cy Young Award? The two-time recipient won in 2004 and 2006, besting one-time recipient Jim Perry (1970 Cy Young winner) and Frank Viola (1988 Cy Young winner).

Did you know that Johan Santana was the American League leader in games won, earned run average, strikeouts, innings pitched and games started in 2006? Due to his league leading numbers in wins, strikeouts and ERA, he earned the Triple Crown of Pitching, only the fifteenth instance in American League history.

Jim Kaat pitched for the Twins from 1961 through 1973. In 1962, Kaat became the first Twins pitcher to win a Gold Glove Award then went on and won thirteen more, consecutively, setting the defensive standard for pitchers. No Twins pitcher won a Gold Glove after Kitty, until Johan Santana earned one in 2007.
