This is a combination set of the 'Live at the Apollo' DVD, documenting a date on Roxy Music's 2001 reunion tour, and an accompanying audio CD of the concert (this set was only officially released in Europe, to my knowledge). It is hard to go too far wrong with songs as wonderful as 'Mother of Pearl' and 'Do the Strand'. But even still, this is a pretty limp and tired incarnation of Roxy Music. The biggest disappointment is Bryan Ferry, who has lost half his voice and all of his sense of irony. The other members come off better, though Andy Mackay's sax and woodwinds are mostly buried in the mix underneath the horde of new 'band members' on stage. Some of the old songs are also fairly badly botched, notably rushed, desperately unfunky versions of 'Both Ends Burning' and 'Love is the Drug'. The CD has its own problems: for no reason, the tracklist has been chopped up and songs, now placed in random order, fade in and out of each other, thereby destroying whatever momentum the concert had. Worse, to fit the songs onto the CD, the moments where the band expanded the songs from their studio versions (such as on a long new piano introduction to 'Song of Europe') are studiously edited out.

This is one of the best music DVDs available. Even if you only have a casual interest in this band buy this release and you wont be dissapointed.
The sound and vision are sharp, the track listing is mainly stuff from the first 3 albums (this is a good thing) - a nice blend of hits and album tracks , Ferry is in good voice and the band are shit hot.
Special mention must go to keyboard and electric violin player Lucy Wilkins. she plays like a demon and easily recreates Eddy Jobsons solo on 'Out of the blue'. She also looks good.

Reunions are often boring. Roxy is the only band that always should play live in heaven.
