What to Expect From World of Warcraft in 2024

2024 will mark the World of Warcraft's 20th year, and Blizzard seems to have a lot of plans to make this year one of the game's best yet.

World of Warcraft Has an Extremely Exciting Year Ahead of It

Dragonflight is Coming to An End

2023 ended with a bang as the final major content update for Dragonflight launched. In that update, players took their final stand against Fyrakk and his forces as they tried everything they could to save the brand-new World Tree from his influence. While some may have thought that the story ended with that final raid, Blizzard actually has plans for even more Dragonflight adventures to wrap everything up.

On January 16, players will be treated to update 10.2.5 Seeds of Renewal, which will bring with it so much more content; including new stories, mechanics, and worldwide dragonriding. In the Spring, Blizzard plans to kick-off Dragonflight season 4 with a mysterious Pirate-themed patch. After that, the final update to Dragonflight will launch and bring with it even more stories and events to complete.

All of this content makes it the perfect time to jump into this latest expansion. Now, the entire story will be playable from beginning to end rather than being delivered monthly. Additionally, at this point in the expansion, Blizzard has added a plethora of quality-of-life features to make the experience even better. And these upcoming WoW events may also include various catch-up mechanics for those that want to gear up their characters fast.

The Next Saga of World of Warcraft is Kicking Off

After Dragonflight ends this Spring, all eyes will be on the next chapter of World of Warcraft. At Blizzcon 2023, Blizzard announced the game-changing Worldsoul Saga, which will define the future of WoW story telling for the foreseeable future. Three expansions will encompass this story, with each one delving deep into Azeroth's history and hopefully giving players what they have been craving for years. And this summer, that saga is set to kick-off with The War Within.

The War Within is set to completely change Azeroth forever by introducing a brand-new underground realm, a new allied race, all sorts of intriguing mechanics, and will take players on a riveting new adventure. The beginning of an expansion is the best time to start WoW as everyone is experiencing this content for the first time. Plus, anyone that pre-purchases the expansion will get a level 70 boost, so they can instantly jump into the latest content without having to go through the initial leveling.

It seems like World of Warcraft will have an incredibly strong year, so players may not want to miss out. This brand-new saga is uncharted territory for the game, and the return of Chris Metzen makes it an extremely exciting prospect. And anyone who jumps on in 2024 will be able to be there when this new era of Azeroth begins. Even if it ends up not being as acclaimed as the likes of Wrath of the Lich King, it should still offer a wild ride for anyone who wants to experience it.
