- gfsc5Perth, Australia1,779 contributionsOutside our price rangeWe wandered down this famous shopping street a couple of times checking out the window displays because walking into some of the shops looked a bit intimidating. Lots of high end places. Also lots of interesting architecture which is worth looking out for. On the day we took our stroll (a Saturday from memory) there was a large open-air market at the end furthest from the railway station. Some interesting stalls and cheaper than the adjacent shops.Visited June 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten July 24, 2023
- Coryy20Port of Spain, Trinidad5,524 contributionsWindow shopping at its bestThis is one of Zurich main and most expensive shopping streets. If you have the funds then you will enjoy the exclusive and high end shopping there. For those in a budget, stroll by and enjoy the ambiance and window shopping. Nonetheless, it's worth a visit.Visited November 2022Traveled soloWritten August 22, 2023
- Snowball's adventureBarnet, United Kingdom7,090 contributionsOne of the most expensive & longest shopping streets in EuropeWe love the Bahnhofstrasse! Every time when we visited Zurich, we would always drop by the Bahnhofstrasse! This long shopping street is in the heart of Zurich, it runs through from North to South, which begins from the train station & end at the edge of the Zurich lake. Being one of the most expensive shopping streets in Europe & the main commercial hub in Zurich, you would be surprised that you could still find many shops that are very affordable for normal people, I.e. H&M, Adidas, Nike...etc. The closer to the lake, the more expensive they are. (i.e. lined with upmarket shops selling jewelleries or Rolax...etc.) There are also serval lovely but very affordable restaurants located on the side streets along Bahnhofstrasse. The street is always very clean and there are tramlines running along it. It is very easy to walk & we love it!Visited June 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten May 11, 2024

It was raining ☔️ the time I arrived after checking in to the hotel room... I went out and discovered the place in only one street I walked due to time constraints but I can say the place was pretty impressive and many people having their own businesses walking alongside. I didn’t used umbrella eh... you can find both luxurious and branded products amongst the shop.
Good thing hotel was just from the corner of Bahnhofstrasse.

It's hard to miss the Bahnhofstrasse when you visited Zurich. It begins from the Zurich HB station and ends by the Zurich Lake. The street on both sides are clean, not overcrowded and easy to walk. It has a tram line in the middle, plus, of course a lot of posh retail stores, such as Bvlgari, Cartier, Chanel, Gucci, LV, Prada, Tiffany, Rolex shops...etc. The more towards the Lake, the posher the shops are.
This is not just possibly the most expensive street in Europe, but it's a very beautiful street too!
Highly recommended!

Nice long street to walk down with all the high end brands along the way with some pricey restaurants.
Good to see during the day and at night, but it’s during the night that has the better atmosphere.
Great for a stroll and do some window shopping, also some nice street stalls that it more affordable to buy some things.

It's semi pedestrian with mainly trams only. Lots of shops and lots of deals in January! it starts at the main train station and ends at Zurich lake. A lovely walk, which I did twice!

Really this is a must walk. Only streetcars and pedestrians here. You wander past one designer after another as well as beautiful jewelry and department stores. Set back a bit is Globus which is a fantastic department store you can’t help but love.

Whatever you buy in Zurich, do not buy any luggage from the Retropunk Zurich brand.
Having lived in 11 countries and , also, having worked 15 years in the luxury Fashion industry, I , really, have used all the international brands of luggage since many years and over this time I have learned to respect beautiful and quality workmanship, and know how to take care of it.
I bought a beautiful dark brown suitcase for 329 swiss francs. It looked vintage and was so original that people admired it on the street. It was used as my '' sports bag'' for the gym and my hand luggage when traveling.
It, immediately , began to come apart at , all, the seams . it was like a disintegrating paper box. I sent it back to Retropunk and they gave me a new one but accused me of mishandling the suitcase because of certain marks. ( these marks are the one's made on all suitcases when you use an escalator ! ) It was obvious from their letter that they have no respect for clients. I was wrong, not them.
Here I was with my second and new suitcase. Unbelievable! This one , also, within weeks, began to break, apart ,at the seams. It was beautiful and I , really, liked the design but it would not hold together in one piece, I did not bother to write to them, again. ctotengo@gmail.com

It's too easy to shop here. The shops are so welcoming. High end luxury goods mixed with local grocery and food vendors. My intention was to pick up a few souvenirs but I returned to my hotel with 10+ bags. The Swiss really show expertise in valuing you as a patron.
Do not skip Laderach Chocolatier. Lindt is common but Laderach is a top tier confectionery. Beautiful team with great ideas for gifts and provided cute gift bags.
Even without shopping, the area is enchanting. The vibe is calm but so much is going on. Trams are easy to find and the historic buildings are also beautiful. The cafes even have fuzzy seat covers to fend off the chill if seated outside. Bravo!

The headline says it all.
If you're for that go and explore the street, but have a thick wallet with you. Otherwise, you'll walk staring pointlessly at big names fashion, watches, jewelry, banks ,etc...
The street runs from the main railway station, hence the name and you can cover it within an hour with occasional stops.

A very busy street. Expensive stores. You're better off walking along the river to see more diversity of shopping. I did not see one tourist/souvenir shop which was unusual. The only souvenir shop I found was in front of the tram stop Rudolf Brun Brucke.

If you are staying at a hotel in Zurich, I would inquire with the hotel. If not, search for a Zurich tourist website where you can send an inquiry.

Sorry if this is late. Just saw it. The city center is about a 10 minute train ride from the airport. Trains are frequent. There's an SBB (Swiss Railways) office on a mezzanine level of the airport after you come out of baggage claim and cross the street into the landside building. Another poster's tip to buy a day pass is a good one. Cafe

P.S. Die Antwort kann auch online übersetzt werden.

I would suggest the Leoneck Swiss Hotel, offers a great price/location/quality deal. Is very close to the Limmat and to the Hauptbahnhof meaning a walking distance of 5 to 25 minutes to almost all the attractions.
