Confessions

American Rust: Broken Justice Season 2 Episode 10 begins with Billy preparing to leave on the bus to go to embark on his army journey. Grace and Virgil are there to see him off, but there’s still no sign of Lee. He gets on the bus and leaves.

Burgos is looking through the evidence of Harris’s potential involvement in the West Virginia triple homicide.

Harris visits DA Gossage and brings up the issues with the CCTV. He gives Harris a lead on a former employee who left the office, and was heavily linked with Herlitz and might have some answers.

Who is Ramona Potts?

The woman is called Ramona Potts, and Harris visits her to question her. Turns out, Sue Herlitz was about to take down Landwill Energy before she was murdered. They had five witnesses willing to testify, and Mrs. McKenna was manipulating the test results. However, she got greedy and wanted a cut, and was trying to extort Landwill Energy. Herlitz was approaching McKenna to discuss the case.

Harris finds out the names of the people on McKenna’s visitors log in prison, prior to her suicide. She is shocked to discover Lee English was on there, and finds out she was investigating the case via her paralegal work. Elsewhere, Isaac goes to meet with Russell at a motel and they have sex, but Russell leaves afterwards while Isaac is still asleep.

Harris rings Park to ask him to head over to the English House as Lee’s life is in danger. Park makes a deal with Harris that he will confess to the West Virginia triple homicide if he agrees to help him. Lee returns home to find Russell in her home, and he shoots her.

Isaac wakes up to find Russell gone, but he’s left him a note saying he went to get sandwiches. However, Isaac recognises the handwriting as the same as Nate’s note and realises something is up.

Does Del Harris confess to the triple homicide in West Virginia?

Park turns up at the English house with his partner, Hannah. They head upstairs and Park sees Lee on the floor, as  Russell makes his presence known and shoots Hannah in the neck, but Park returns fire and kills Russell, as he falls down the stairs. Park calls for backup.

Harris arrives on the scene, and Park pulls a gun on him. Harris asks where Lee is, but Park ignores him and wants to know if they still have a deal with the confession. Park tells Harris to kick his gun over to him, he starts recording, and Harris proceeds to confess. Grace turns up and shoots Park in the head. and Harris plants the gun on Russell and tells Grace to flee the scene. Hannah loses consciousness, as Harris goes to check on Lee but she is confirmed to be dead.

What happens at the end of American Rust Season 2?

It’s ten weeks later: Del Harris is sworn in as Sheriff of Fayette County. Billy lays flowers on Lee’s grave and leaves the engagement ring on there, and is joined by Isaac as they both mourn her loss. Elsewhere, Steve Park’s partner is revealed to be alive and in a coma in the hospital and wakes up with a jolt.

The episode ends with Harris, Grace, Billy, and Isaac having dinner at the cabin. They discuss Lee and pay tribute to her, with Billy breaking down and still struggling with her death. Fisher turns up at the cabin and has a sniper pointed at the group as they dine. Billy spots the red mark from the sniper pointing at them and goes outside to investigate. He approaches Fisher, and we hear a gunshot, but the episode ends on this cliffhanger, and we don’t know if he killed Fisher, or if Billy died.

The Episode Review

This was a brilliant final episode of American Rust: Broken Justice, with a lot of plot points resolved, and a lot more left unresolved, with a stunning cliffhanger and no news on whether there will be a season 3 yet. Based on the quality of this episode, it deserves another season.

Jeff Daniels is superb as his character races to save the day with severe injuries to contend with. There are some shocking deaths and revelations, with a final ten minutes that is more tense than anything we’ve seen on television for some time.

  1. Oh John and Super. Gay people exist and guess what, they have sex lives. There was no nudity in season 2. I didn’t see anyone fucking anywhere and everywhere. Exaggerate much? Get over your sanctimonious selfs and stop being so judgmental.

  2. So Del Harris goes undercover because he can’t stand that some rogue Pittsburgh cops murder criminals that got away with their crimes but he’s ok with his girlfriend murdering a cop.

  3. Second season was ok, but most of it focused on gay guys fucking anywhere and everywhere. It ruined the story. Had nothing to do with the story. Just a bunch of gay porn. It’s disgusting.
