Oh, high school had its moments, right? One good experience was when we had a school-wide talent show, Mr. TRE. Everyone was buzzing with excitement, and it was so cool to see classmates reveal talents you never knew they had. There was this one act where a group of students performed a medley of songs, and they totally rocked it! The energy was infectious, and for a while, all the usual cliques and drama just melted away. We were just a bunch of kids, cheering each other on. It felt like a real community. In high school, I loved being part of the spirit, photography and medical club. We put on some amazing plays and musicals too. We covered everything from school events to local news, and it was exciting to see our articles in print. I wouldn't change much besides the time I start school. Starting to learn at 7:00 AM is way too early for any kid. But overall It was fun!
Overall throughout the time I've been at High School East everything has just been going downhill. It was possibly because of my first-year COVID experience that made me not see it at first but as the kids kept coming in things kept changing for the worst. It started with bathrooms getting sign in sheets, then hall monitors had to sign you in, next I'm sure it'll be no bathrooms in school at all. On top of that our budget's getting cut because rich New Jersey residents don't want to pay taxes. The best parts of high school were the friends I played with outside of school.
The teachers here are, for the most part, human. Despite the windowless classrooms and rowdy students, most of the teachers stay sane enough to keep showing up. Unfortunately, there are some that will power trip through the day. For instance, trying to use the bathroom in an emergency, I forget my ID to be signed into the bathroom(which I find ridiculous). Hoping I would receive some sympathy, I get slapped in the fave(figuratively) with a teacher who does not let me go. His sticker filled laptop of political ideas and ear gauges made me believe that he would’ve been understanding of my situation. However, I was turned away from the bathroom.
