In a year of big-time rookies, Kris Bryant was been one of the biggest in 2015. Even if it wasn’t clutch plays and walk-off home runs every night, he’s lived up to a lot of the lofty expectations that come with being a second overall draft pick. And he’s still very young. Not surprisingly, Kris Bryant Rookie Cards have garnered plenty of attention from both buyers and sellers from the moment they were released.

If you look to just base sets, there are more than 15 Kris Bryant Rookie Cards to go alongside with hundreds of parallels, inserts, autographs and memorabilia cards. Simply put, there’s lots of choice out there for various budgets and baseball card preferences.

The cheapest Kris Bryant Rookie Cards come from basic sets that don’t have a lot of added frills or premium enhancements. Despite Bryant’s popularity, these lower-tier rookies can still be found for reasonable amounts equivalent to a pack or two.

A couple of cards that give off this no-frills appearance are actually some of the most valuable Kris Bryant Rookie Cards. His base cards in both 2015 Topps Archives and 2015 Topps Finest are short prints. And we’re not talking the fairly common short prints like the ones found in sets like Topps Heritage. These are legitimately scarce and the price tags reflect this. In particular, expect the 2015 Topps Archives Kris Bryant SP to cost more than a lot of his signed cards.

Autographs

Speaking of autographs, some of Bryant’s are considered Rookie Cards as they’re part of the product’s main set. While there is a range within these, understandably, all are among the most valuable Kris Bryant Rookie Cards. These are topped by his five autographed patch cards in 2015 Topps Dynasty. Each is numbered to just 10 copies. Like most players in the product, Bryant has multiple cards, each with a different photo.

So what are the most valuable Kris Bryant Rookie Cards? We’re counting them down according to the Beckett Baseball Price Guide.

The following list covers Kris Bryant Rookie Cards from 2015 base sets. While he has cards dating back several years, these are usually considered insert or prospect cards. You can find plenty of Kris Bryant cards and compare prices in the Beckett Marketplace.

As Cubs fans, it’s nice to see this much attention aimed at one of our own for a recent change. He’s so good it makes me nervous. Well, that and the fact of who he chose for an agent. Cubs + Playoffs = A Better World.

What’s great for Cubs fans, though, is that it’s not just Bryant to be excited about. There is a ridiculous amount of great young bats on that team.

My choice is the SP variation found in Topps factory sets…….great looking card. (though the Finest is a great looking card)

      Hi Mark,

While I get where you’re coming from, there is a reason why they are not. Values can often fluctuate. Over the long-term, it’s unlikely the order of this list will change much, if at all. But if the values are included and prices change, it will make the entire article dated and not useful. Also, the price guide is intended for paid subscribers. Although it may not be totally ideal, I do think it’s a helpful tool as people try to wade through the many cards that are out there.

I was thinking earlier about how there are too many Bowman rookie autos these days. Used to be a guy was a rookie when his card said RC, but now they have 1st year Bowman cards and a glut of autographs signed before the kid even sniffs the MLB field of the team who drafted him…

Then by the time he gets called up and gets his first official “Rookie Card”, he’s already signed for 10 different products and his signature is already all over the place and not nearly valuable as what it could and should have been due to so many prospect autograph issues.

Topps and Bowman really need to step up and get a grasp on things. Funny thing is I like AFLAC cards a lot, and they are just another part of the problem because now they are hounding these high school kids to sign stacks of cards to store away to insert at a later date when/if the player is any good! Its madness!

It’s a factory set parallel and, to my knowledge, its considered a rc. It certainly has the official logo.

You are missing a pretty valuable one that should be top 5… 2015 Panini National Treasures #151 Kris Bryant JSY AU/99 RC… It’s definitely a rookie, but I think you cataloged it wrong in your database, as it’s clearly a RC, says RC right in the item name/description, but doesn’t have the little RC color icon (or show up when you filter by RC).

Also, I sent this in weeks ago and still waiting a final explanation… but why is Beckett classifying 2015 Topps Dynasty Autograph Patches as RC, when you did not in 2014?

    • Ryan Cracknell 29 June, 2016 at 12:42

Thanks for the heads up. I missed it without the tag. I’ll let the database team know.

Also, I’m not sure about the difference in tags for 2014 and 2015 Dynasty. I’ll check on that too.

  6. Eric Patmythes 29 June, 2016 at 12:52

Awesome, thanks Ryan! Just for the sake of completeness in the article, and I’m sure they’ll be at the bottom of the list… he does have 3 cards (at least tagged) in 2015 Topps Update that are RCs. Personally, I don’t think the Bryant/Russell card should be tagged, since it just shows their backs and doesn’t have the MLB RC logo on the card… but that’s just my opinion! Very helpful article… thanks again!

    • Ryan Cracknell 29 June, 2016 at 13:02

I believe those were tagged in error. I saw those ones and made the call to leave them off as they’re subset cards, not player cards.

  7. Eric Patmythes 29 June, 2016 at 13:37

Thanks Ryan… let us know what you find out! I would agree with regard to the Bryant/Russell card, as it doesn’t have the MLB RC logo, but not so sure on the other 2. Albeit subset-like cards, they have been classified as RC for as long as I can remember, as long as they had the MLB RC logo on the card. Think back to 2012, the Bryce Harper Topps Update card for the all star game is widely considered a RC and is tagged as such. Thanks for checking on these, as my main interest is seeing everything tagged correctly so us collectors aren’t left with any uncertainty… look forward to hearing what you find out on all accounts!!!

His best and most valuable rookie by far is his 2013 bowman chrome auto which was released in 2014 product /99

  9. Jake Morris 19 March, 2017 at 19:39

Does anyone know anything about the allen and ginter x bryant rookie? It’s the, black 10th anniversary version of the white one listed above. I’ve got the card but can’t find any info on it!!

Hello Ryan, collecting for me all started one summer afternoon when I walked across the street to my friend Donnie Witte’s house, Donnie his buds Cliff and Skippy were all playing a dice baseball card game using the baseball cards for their teams. I thought that this was the coolest thing I had ever seen – for a kid 7 years old.
I asked if I could play and was promptly told that I had to have my own cards to play. I am not sure that now at almost 72 I have recovered . Running home and begging Mom for a nickle so I could start my own team was the start of my collecting career. I have been on this mission ever since. I have a good collection of baseball and football cards – many rookies from that era.
I wanted to say that I love the Heritage Cards using the old throwback design and images. Love the batting stance shots- Hate it when the player doesn’t have his cap on or is sliding or having a pop. I am on my way to the Walmart to start my new mission of a complete set 2019 Topps Heritage .
Its great to know that there are others out there that can still appreciate the classics.

    Thanks Ryan,
    Tommy

I love all of your rookie card rankings. This list and its very helpful eBay links help me land my first and only Kris Bryant rookie card, I bought #2 on this list, his Topps Archive. Its in the Beckett for $600 and after watching and waiting for months I finally Made an Offer that was accepted. Thanks again for posting these “ranking” lists, thay are extremely helpful when going after someone with dozens of rookie cards, like Tom Brady and his 44 rookie cards, just ridiculous, lol!!!
