Here's how Evan Rachel Wood's Sophie-Anne Leclerq exited True Blood. The show is an adaptation of Charlaine Harris' novel series The Southern Vampire Mysteries - AKA The Sookie Stackhouse Novels - which began in 2001. The series is set in a world where vampires, who've remained hidden from mankind for centuries, start to integrate with the human race thanks to the development of blood substitute "Tru Blood," which eliminates the need to drink human plasma. The central romance is between psychic waitress Sookie (Anna Paquin) and vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer).

True Blood debuted on HBO in 2008 and became an instant hit thanks to its likable characters, well-developed world and its many, many racy sequences. True Blood would end up running for seven seasons in total and finished up in 2014. The series is also notable for making stars out of Alexander Skarsgård - who played vampire Eric - and Joe Manganiello, who played hunky werewolf Alcide Herveaux.

True Blood season 2 introduced Evan Rachel Wood as Sophie-Anne Leclerq, the Vampire Queen of Louisiana. Wood clearly had a great time hamming it up in the role, with Sophie-Anne being a classy but somewhat childish ruler who liked to spend her time lounging around in a mansion bathing in fake sunlight. The Queen's extravagant lifestyle saw her run into financial difficulties during season 3, and she turned to selling "V" - AKA vampire blood - which is highly addictive to humans. This is frowned upon in vampire society, and her reign comes to an end when Bill lures here into a trap with the American Vampire League.

True Blood's season 4 episode "You Smell Like Dinner" sees the two briefly battle before armed men swarm the room, pointing their rifles directly at her heart. It turns out Bill made a deal to become the Vampire King of Louisiana in exchange for betraying her, and she's shot with wooden bullets and explodes in a shower of gore, having reached "True Death." That was that for Evan Rachel Wood's character, though in a 2011 interview with MTV about the series, she indicated a return wasn't out of the question.

On Sophie-Anne Leclerq's death, she said the showrunners hadn't definitively stated her character was gone for good. That probably meant Evan Rachel Wood could have made a return to True Blood in a flashback, though Bill himself was brought back from "True Death" during season 5. Sadly, Evan Rachel Wood didn't end up returning to the series, and she later went on to front her own HBO series with Westworld.
