Kevin Federline: ‘I still feel bad’ for Britney Spears— and ‘the boys’

Britney Spears’ ex-husband Kevin Federline is ready to tell all about his relationship — and their sons’ relationship — with the newly freed pop star.

In a preview clip for his “60 Minutes Australia” interview, Federline, 44, said he was “mortified” for Spears, 40, seemingly during the time her life went into a downward spiral around 2007.

“I still feel bad for her,” he added.

Working in the business as a backup dancer, Federline met Spears in 2004. Their whirlwind romance was documented by self-shot video, which was released the world as the docuseries “Britney and Kevin: Chaotic.”

They married in 2004, had a son, Sean Preston, now 16, then another, Jayden James, 15, and divorced two months after the latter was born in 2007.

In February 2008, Spears entered a 13-year-long conservatorship, and a custody battle followed, during which the couple shared their sons 50/50.

“The boys, the boys, the boys. I had to worry about them. I couldn’t get involved,” Federline said in the interview with regards to the conservatorship.

Pictures of their sons are rare these days, as Federline has claimed that the teens are avoiding their mother — perhaps due to her nude Instagram posts.

“They actually haven’t seen her in months,” he doubled down in the interview — the narrator reminding viewers that the move is “the boys’ choice.”

Federline is flanked by two shirtless teenagers with towels around their waists — Jayden, and Kaleb, 18, whom he shares with ex-wife Shar Jackson — in the clip. “So what are we doing here?” the father asks his boys.

“Kevin did the interview because he and the boys are upset. They worry that everyone is completely ignoring the fact that Britney is [battling mental issues], which is not a secret,” one source with knowledge of the Federline situation previously told Page Six, also alleging that they think Spears may be dealing with mental health issues.

Sean and Jayden were noticeably absent from Spears’ wedding to Sam Asghari in June, which Federline explained in August was because they had chosen not to see her for months.

“They think the focus of this day should be on Britney and Sam, and they are very happy for her moving forward,” Mark Vincent Kaplan, who oversees the Federline’s custody case with Spears, told Page Six.

On August 11, Federline seemingly added insult to injury by releasing videos of Spears fighting with the boys, which were recorded when they were 11 and 12.

“Only one word: Hurtful,” Spears wrote on her Instagram Story about Federline’s decision to share private discussions between family. “It saddens me to hear that my ex-husband has decided to discuss the relationship between me and my children. As we all know, raising teenage boys is never easy for anyone.”

“The boys are very smart and will be 18 soon to make their own decisions and may eventually realize the ‘tough’ part was having a father who hasn’t worked much in over 15 years as a role model,” Asghari backed up his wife on the platform.

“It was amazing until it wasn’t,” Federline said about his marriage to Spears. 60 Minutes Australia

The “Toxic” singer’s Story garnered support from fellow pop star Jennifer Lopez. Spears’ “Till The World Ends (Remix)” collaborator Nicki Minaj also defended Spears and slammed Federline for airing out the parents’ dirty laundry.

Federline’s “60 Minutes Australia” airs on Sunday.
