It may be mid-June, but there’s nothing “mid” about this week’s list of things to do in Philly.

Summer concert season heats up as The Rolling Stones play Lincoln Financial Field (Tuesday) and the Pixies and Modest Mouse rock The Mann Center (Wednesday).

Philly commemorates the end of slavery in America with a slew of Juneteenth celebrations, including the Juneteenth Parade and Festival in West Philadelphia (Sunday) and the Juneteenth Wine & Arts Festival at Cherry Street Pier (Saturday).

Pride Month celebrations continue throughout the region this week with colorful events like an LGBTQ+ field day in West Fairmount Park (Saturday) and a performance-filled Pride celebration in Montgomery County (Saturday).

Break out the stretchy pants for the delicious Summer Food Truck Frenzy at Linvilla Orchards (Saturday), the first of the Go Mt. Airy Supper Sessions in Northwest Philly (Wednesday) and the epically briny Big Dill World’s Largest Pickle Party at Xfinity Live! (Saturday).

And Philly goes big for Flag Day with special programming at historic attractions and the daylong Stripes and Stars Festival in Old City — complete with a grand parade and patriotic skydiving (Friday).

Plus, celebrate Dad and all the father figures in your life with fun — and tasty — Father’s Day events at Philly faves like SOUTH Restaurant & Jazz Club (Friday) and Evil Genius Beer Company (Friday).

Also happening this week: a couple of “pawsome” pet-friendly events, extra special Philly walking tours and a bevy of outdoor movie screenings in neighborhoods near and far (various dates).

With so much happening this week, you’re gonna want to stay over for a day (or three). Book the Visit Philly Overnight Package and get free hotel parking and choose-your-own-adventure perks, including tickets to The Art of the Brick at The Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, or the National Constitution Center and the Museum of the American Revolution. Or kick back and relax with the new Visit Philly 3-Day Stay hotel package, which includes buy-two-get-one-free hotel nights at participating hotels.

Below, find the best things to do in Philadelphia this week and weekend, June 10 – June 16, 2024.

Pixies and Modest Mouse with Cat Power at The Mann Center

Wednesday

Rock royalty collides when New England’s Pixies and the Pacific Northwest’s Modest Mouse meet for a rock-till-you-can-rock-no-more link-up at The Mann Center this Wednesday. Both of these groups left their mark on the alt-rock indie scene in the ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s, and their influence can be heard in the music of contemporaries and later groups like Nirvana and Radiohead. Always energetic (and at times unpredictable), the groups’ live shows are a blast.

Philly heavily celebrates the Black music scene, and with so much home-grown star power, it’s no wonder that Black Music Month was started here — in Philly, by Philadelphians. This June marks the 45th anniversary of Black Music Month, honoring Black musicians and culture with events and performances including:

Not to say there’s something for everyone, but with tunes spanning pop, afrobeats, country, hip-hop, jazz and more, it’s kind of hard not to (Saturday).
