Heat check: The summer season is in sight, and the first full week of June brings with it a sizzling list of things to do in Philadelphia.

Philly’s massive ODUNDE Festival continues with events this week, culminating in the largest Black and African cultural festival in the country on Sunday.

Paint the town rainbow with Pride Month celebrations in and around Philadelphia, including block parties, drag brunches and festivals (throughout June).

It’s last call for Philly Beer Week, the city’s 10-day celebration of barley, hops and happiness with events and pop ups at bars, restaurants and breweries throughout the region (through Sunday).

When one tap closes, another one opens. Center City District SIPS is back for a season of weekly Wednesday happy hour parties in Center City all summer long (begins Wednesday).

And it’s the week to get crafty with the return of big annual art fests, including the Rittenhouse Square Fine Arts Show (Friday through Sunday), the West Park Arts Festival (Saturday) and Art for the Cash Poor (Saturday).

Plus, some of the biggest names in music hit local stages this week, including Melanie Martinez (Monday), Chris Stapleton (Thursday), Kenny Chesney and the Zac Brown Band (Saturday), and 21 Savage (Sunday).

With so much happening this week, you’re gonna want to stay over for a day (or three). Book the Visit Philly Overnight Package and get free hotel parking and choose-your-own-adventure perks, including tickets to The Art of the Brick at The Franklin Institute, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, or the National Constitution Center and the Museum of the American Revolution. Or kick back and relax with the new Visit Philly 3-Day Stay hotel package, which includes buy-two-get-one-free hotel nights at participating hotels.

This contemporary opera at the Avenue of the ArtsWilma Theater pulls from a variety of genres — rock, pop, musical theater — and introduces the audience to an unlikely figure: 20th-century Swedish artist and queer mystic Hilma af Klint. This world-premiere production paints an interesting picture of its own using music, dance and theater to explore the life and work of the painter. Now heralded as one of the very first abstract artists, Klint worked in obscurity and saw her art as a divine channel between herself and the universe’s otherworldly forces.

In the fascinating new Witness to Revolution: The Unlikely Travels of Washington’s Tent exhibition, visitors discover rare documents, inspired works of art and historical objects that paint a fuller picture of the shelter used as George Washington’s headquarters throughout the War for Independence. The tent — the Museum of the American Revolution’s signature artifact — served as the battlefield home, strategic meeting place and office quarters for General Washington, and the exhibition tells the stories of the many individuals who worked to preserve and pass down this vital symbol of the American republic. Looking for a more sensory-friendly day? This Sunday features a relaxed experience morning at the museum, with quiet rooms, sensory kits, free admission (for pre-registered guests) and accessibility-trained staff on hand (Sunday).
