      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Madame Web's earnest approach to the title character's origin story has a certain appeal, but its predictable plot and uneven execution make for a forgettable superhero adventure.

Madame Web isn't a groundbreaking superhero movie, but it does a decent job of telling an entertaining origin story.

Catherine Bray Empire Magazine But where the dialogue needed wit and spark, it has the kind of will-this-do one-liners ("Hope the spiders were worth it, Mom!") and tired backstories you get when the characters are too flat to flesh out with rounded personalities. Rated: 2/5 Mar 15, 2024 Full Review Mark Kermode Kermode and Mayo's Take (YouTube) The storytelling is... somewhere between pathetic and perfunctory. Largely perfunctory. Mar 6, 2024 Full Review Cam Cieszki Chicago Reader Sony and Marvel's latest entry in their shared Spider-Man cinematic universe has no better comparison than that of a rickety wooden coaster you'd find at a family-owned amusement park: brutal on the body and precariously constructed. Feb 24, 2024 Full Review Mattie Lucas From the Front Row So shockingly inept that it's hard to believe its real. Rated: 0/4 May 23, 2024 Full Review Kevin Sampson Picture Lock Alfred Hitchcock said “To make a great film you need three things- the script, the script, and the script”. Madame Web is the perfect example of what happens when those three things are missing. Rated: D May 22, 2024 Full Review Joe Lipsett Queer.Horror.Movies. The reality is that Madame Web is not a good movie. But in the right frame of mind, with the right crowd, and the right mix of controlled substances, it *can* be a fun movie. Thwipsniktmraw The film's potentially rock solid premise is squandered by (among other things) a sloppy script too terrified of its audience's media illiteracy to employ any subtlety in its exposition. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 05/07/24 Full Review Monique M Loved the story and characters! They did a good job of sprinkling humor throughout as well. I was captivated the entire time. Would 100% recommend! I'll be buying this digitally so I can rewatch it as many times as I want. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/16/24 Full Review Andrea E Very entertaining and I loved all the characters. I hope they make a sequel or spinoffs. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Maggie awesome can't wait for part 2 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/20/24 Full Review Dennis I A little slow at first, but did get up to speed Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/18/24 Full Review Irene I did like it but more as a funny movie.
