Karan Johar reveals reason behind discretion about his sexuality
Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar, recognized for his contributions to the industry with films like 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham', and 'My Name Is Khan', has been a vocal advocate for incorporating queer themes in cinema. However, he has chosen to maintain privacy regarding his own sexuality, a choice that has drawn attention and speculation.
In a recent interview with The Week, KJo opened up about the reason behind his decision to keep his love life away from the public eye, and his reluctance to have his sexuality reduced to a mere headline.Johar expressed that, he doesn't want such a large part of his life to be used as a headline. The filmmaker emphasized his preference for making a tangible impact through his work, rather than becoming a subject of sensationalism.

Karan also highlighted that he has never concealed his identity, focusing instead on making an impact through his cinema and other mediums. He believes that the influence of his work, such as addressing sexuality in his films and his book 'An Unsuitable Boy', has already sparked meaningful conversations among people. He also revealed that he received letters and emails from individuals expressing how his portrayal of sexuality in films has aided them in addressing similar situations with their peers and parents.

Acknowledging the ongoing impact, Johar stated that he will continue to push that envelope. But don't expect the director to say much as he feels his statements will just be sensational, and ridiculed, but he believes "cinema is a far more impressionable medium."
The director has a long list of projects in the works, one being the Sidharth Malhotra action flick 'Yodha' that is slated for its release later this year.
