Join us at the beautiful Gwen Shea Hall at the Centre Wakefield La Pêche from 5:00 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday May 11, 2024 for a hot & cold gourmet buffet, local artisan beer from À La Dérive, and a private screening of an outdoor adventure documentary film with a historical flair!
The Canadian Explorations Heritage Society (CEHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to re-creating famous exploratory journeys from Canada’s past. In July 2022, they sent a team to climb British Columbia's highest peak, retracing the steps of a 1920s legendary husband-and-wife mountaineering team, Phyllis and Don Munday.
The ensuing film, Chaos Glacier Country (1h20), showcases the expedition team's triumphs and tribulations, including bad weather, daunting terrain and the stubborn insistence of its leader on using only antique equipment.
Your $50 ticket includes:
⭐️A hot & cold gourmet buffet, including traditional, vegetarian & vegan options
⭐️A can of artisan beer from À La Dérive
⭐️A raffle ticket for a chance to win some great prizes
⭐️A silent auction
⭐️Private screening of Chaos Glacier Country, a film by Greg Gransden
⭐️The opportunity to meet & mingle with members of the 2022 Expedition Team
⭐️An interactive display table of the vintage clothing and gear actually used in the expedition
Join us and support a registered charity that educates Canadians on the history of wilderness exploration in Canada.
