Before the final episode of the new Netflix drama Baby Reindeer, which has dominated the streaming service's list of the top TV since its release, the show features a dedication to Llewellyn Harrison.

The new seven-part drama stars Richard Gadd and tells a fictionalised account of his own years-long stalking nightmare. The Scottish comedian initially wrote the drama as a one-man stage play, which went on to receive an Olivier Award.

The adapted Netflix drama sees Gadd play comedy hopeful Donny Dunn, who works behind a bar to pay the bills. That is where he first meets Martha (Jessica Gunning), a lonely-looking woman who comes into the pub.

She says that, despite being a high-flying lawyer, she can't afford to buy anything. Feeling sorry for her, Donny brews Martha a cup of tea on the house. That one moment triggers a sustained stalking and harassment campaign.

Over a three-year period, Martha sends Donny 40,000-plus obsessive emails littered with spelling mistakes, in which she regularly refers to him as her "baby reindeer" – hence the show's title.

Ahead of the dramatic season finale, the sixth episode of Baby Reindeer features a dedication. "In loving memory of Llewellyn Harrison," it reads.

Harrison was listed among the camera crew for the show, as a key grip on all episodes of the series. Prior to working on the new Netflix thriller, Harrison also worked on shows including Top Boy, Death in Paradise, Episodes and Holby City. The other credits listed on his IMDb include The Marvels and Luca Guadagnino's A Bigger Splash.

There has also been a JustGiving page set up in tribute to Harrison, to raise funds for his family. The crowdfund has hugely exceeded its initial fundraising goal.

The page tribute states: "Llewellyn was a much-loved colleague, friend and mentor to many. His sudden death has shocked us all, and his absence will be truly missed."

Among those who have contributed are colleagues from Holby City as well as Clerkenwell Films, which is the production company behind Baby Reindeer. The Clerkenwell Films tribute reads: "Our deepest condolences to the family. He was a wonderful man who was a credit to his profession."

One contributor wrote: "The sweetest grip in the world. The film industry will be a worse place without him."

The camera equipment company Chapman Leonard UK also donated and wrote: "We are so saddened to hear the news. Llewellyn was a pleasure to know and we are so glad to have worked with him. Our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. He will be very missed."

Baby Reindeer is available to stream on Netflix.
