Kevin Patrick Smith (born August 2, 1970) is an American screenwriter, actor, film producer, and director, as well as a popular comic book writer, author, comedian/raconteur, and internet radio personality best recognized by viewers as Silent Bob.

He plays the character Frederick "Warlock" Kaludis in Live Free or Die Hard.

  • In the beginning credits when Kevin Smith's name comes on the screen. The "m" in smith disappears and you see "Sith" for a few seconds paying homage to Kevin Smith's love of all things Star Wars which also reflects in his character in the movie.
  • Kevin Smith worked with Bruce Willis on Live Free or Die Hard and enjoyed the experience so much that he cast Bruce Willis in his movie, Cop Out. However, Willis didn't approve of Smith's recreational marijuana use and a feud emerged between the two. Willis claims that the two have no bad blood but Smith still thinks Willis is a bitter person and refuses to work with him again.
  • Kevin Smith rewrote the lines for his Warlock character. Bruce Willis thought the rewrite was too funny and did not follow the serious mood of the movie. Smith then rewrote the part to what Willis requested.
  • Kevin Smith also directed Alan Rickman in the 1998 comedy Dogma.
