referencing Schizophonic! (CD, Album) SPCD 313
This album is as colourful as lounge music can be: exotic, mysterious, elegant and charming. Of course it's old-fashion flavoured, but that's part of the purpose: taking the listener away to lost places and forgotten times.
The chimes are excellent: vibes, organs, keyboards, percussion... Sometimes the guitar sounds Hawaian, sometimes Greek, never dull. Miss Lily Banquette sings in a beautiful and melancholic way, but the backing vocals are especially effective.
Through the 13 tracks you'll find vocal and instrumental songs with different tempos, never too lengthy, which is a guarantee for fun. It's actually a very enjoyable CD.
You may accuse them of lack of innovation (sometimes you might think you're listening to Les Baxter or Martin Denny or any other space-age pop author), but who cares if the result is so pleasant and classy.
