Baseball claims series with MSJ

Hanover Ind.- Hanover (21-9, 12-3 HCAC) was able to win the series with Mount St Joseph (15-13, 10-3 HCAC) taking the first two games of a three-game series. The final score of the first game was 14-4, only lasting 7 innings. The second game also resulted in a win with a score of 10-5. 
 
Game One  
On The Bump 

Senior Matthew Alter (Indianapolis, IN) was able to move to 5-0 on the year pitching a very strong six innings against the Lions allowing one earned run with five strikeouts. Junior Ashton Dickmann (Greenfield, IN) came in to finish the game for the Panthers shutting down the opposition allowing no hits and one strikeout.  
 
At The Plate 
The Lions struck first in the first inning, but that lead did not last long with the Red and Blue answering back with five of their own with two runs coming from a Junior Andrew Oesterling (Batesville, IN) home run.
 
Hanover added 7 more runs by the time the 4th inning rolled around giving them a 12-1 lead. Mount St Joseph attempted to answer back and extend the game to nine innings but were not strong enough leading to a 14-4 win for the 'Thers. 
 
Game Two 
On The Bump  

Sophomore John Girard (Richmond, KY) got his fourth win of the season after pitching eight innings for Hanover allowing only two runs with eight K's. Wyatt Prather got the final three outs of the game allowing only two runs with one strikeout. 
 
At The Plate 
 
The Blue and Gold struck first again scoring one run in the first inning but were again answered by the Panthers who scored four runs with two of the runs coming from hits by Senior Alex Christie (Greenwood, IN) and Senior Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, IN).
 
In the second inning, Alex Christie had another RBI single making it a score of 5-1 after two innings of play.  
 
There was more action in the fifth inning when the Panthers scored another 3 runs, in which Mount St Joseph answered back with a run of their own. The Red and Blue scored the last of their runs in the eighth inning when two more crossed the plate making it 10-2 going into the final inning of play. The Lions came up short scoring only three runs in the 9th making it a final tally of 10-5. 
 
GAME THREE
On The Mound

Junior Chris Hautman (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) got his first loss of the season. He pitched four and two-third innings streaking out four. Freshman Dalton Sisson (Bowling Green, KY) came in, in relief allowing only one earned run and striking out two. 
 
At The Plate 

Hanover struck first scoring one run in the second inning on a sacrifice ground ball hit by Junior Matthew McCoy (Charlestown, IN). Another four runs were scored by the Panthers in the fourth inning with a two RBI hit by Junior Andrew Oesterling (Batesville, IN) and another two RBI hit by Sophomore Robert Carroll (Hendersonville, TN). 
 
The Red and Blue went on to give up runs finding themselves unable to respond, surrendering the contest in seven innings. 
 
Hanover will hope to get back on their feet when they travel to Louisville, KY to take on Spalding University. Game time is set for 4:30 PM EST.
