recently i acquired a blackberry leap and have wanted to install apps but since blackberry world is no longer a thing where would i find BAR app install files. also how would i go about installing them.

Hey compt, glad you made it here! You would need to download native apps from the Master Archive. I am in the process of getting it organized for general release, but if you know the kinds of apps (podcasts, ebooks, etc) then we can recommend some options.
BB10 also supports some Android apps; we have confirmed working versions of those in the Master Archive too.
Once downloaded native apps need to be sideloaded using software like Sachesi or DBBT. If you’re not familiar with sideloading you may want to DM me for a chat about BB10 fundamentals.
i usually go for lots of apps. facebook, facebook messenger, telegram, instagram, shazam, , moovit, youtube, online radio apps even voice recorder apps. i do like playing classic words solo. oh i also use email and a few other things.
Let me DM you on this comp; there are some limitations to BB10 I think it will be important for you to understand.
