Убийственный ланч Пола Дуда
A quite charming oddball comedy with a little touch of splatter, but with a plot this bonkers it really should have been a whole lot more fun. It constantly throws jokes at the viewers that ranges from quite funny to plain cringy, and perhaps tries to juggle too many tones but sadly fails at it a bit more than it succeeds. I liked the eccentric lead, and the bond between him and his mother, but there are so many issues with the execution and the failed tone-juggling wasn't to my liking. Could've done better if it just committed to its darker tone.
These Sky Movies Originals are operating on about the same success % as Netflix's own original content, with more turds than on a pig farm. My wife and I have been quite adept at avoiding them, but last weekend we'd had a bit of a full-on time of it on the Saturday and Sunday, that we simply pressed play on the first thing that appeared on the Sunday evening, and unfortunately it was this!
Paul Dood's Deadly Lunch Break looks like it cost about £20 quid to make, so maybe comparing Sky's Originals with Netflix is possibly a poor analogy? If this had been made by Netflix it would have starred Ryan Reynolds and cost $100 million dollars, but the…
There was enough humour in this to make it worthwhile. Lots of faces to say ‘oh there’s them from that other show’ at too.
surprisingly successful amalgam of dry British comedy and gory revenge fantasy that will earn comparisons to last year’s Spree and Falling Down but is more charming, and has a much better soundtrack, than either
also the best steamroller death since Maximum Overdrive
Paul Dood's Deadly Lunch Break was quite the journey of a revenge not exactly going as planned.
The effects and comedic tone were on display here while the story itself got you invested in Paul Dood and his quest to right the wrongs that happened to him and his mother. This was an entertaining watch although it does drag on a bit on certain scenes and comedic moments instead of it being quick.
The horror elements were in this movie as the focus was made to be more comedy thriller. Overall this was a good watch. It was fun and entertaining with a lighthearted feel to it.
In his mind, Paul Dood (Tom Meeten) is a future star. He can sing, dance, and thrill his audiences, or can he? He has a supportive mother, mocking colleagues, and several people that prevent him from getting to an audition for Trend Letter, an app that is kind of like a cross between YouTube and American Idol.
Several people hold up Paul Dood from attending his Trend Letter audition, or do they? His colleague reminds him about the audition. Paul meets with certain bumps on the road to his audition, mainly workers who are caught up in bureaucratic nonsense. His mother wants to come along with him, but needs special attention. He is delayed by a train attendant who refuses…
I swear I'd rate this so much more if Paul Dood was simply played by a different actor. Maybe Kris Marshall should have just played every part. Anyway I'm going to listen to Together in Electric Dreams again goodnight
I really wanted to get into this based off the fun description, but it just didn't do much for me. This felt like last year's Spree without the charm, the humor, or the talent. I really enjoyed the soundtrack and I think that some of the kills were good, but this should've been better than it was. Didn't really stick with a tone and felt dry to the point where this probably won't stick with me in the near future. Fun concept, though.
Paul Dood believes he's a future superstar. He thinks he can sing, dance, and entertain with the best of them. His only supporter is his wheelchair bound mom. He goes to an audition for a huge national talent show. The audition goes terribly and his loving mother passes away shortly after. This sets Paul down a dark path as he goes about killing everyone who held him up on his way to the audition...
He does all this on the longest lunchbreak ever!
It's one of the slowest moving revenge films I've seen but the quirky lead and a few decently bloody kills kept me invested. Tonally it feels like a horror comedy but it's more sad than anything imho.
