Ashdown was a great final stop before heading back to the states. The property is full of character with garden views, patio seating, fruit trees, outdoor lounge with bar, TV, fire pit. The rooms are just the right size & very clean. Breakfast is AMAZING. Must try the french toast & fired bananas. We used their guide to visit the Apartheid Museum & Soweto which you can drive yourself you have a car. The guide is not necessary & we were rushed & didn't finish the entire museum. The only negative to Ashdown is the internet. Connection is only strong outside near the rear of the property. The staff restarted the internet & it still didn't work properly. There was never a resolution. Other than that I highly suggest Ashdown.

I stayed in Ashdown House more than 20 times over last 10 years & rate is very highly.
Each time I stayed the personal touch by the Ashdown team makes me feel at home.
Its just a fabulous guesthouse with ideal location for my meetings in Jo'burg & safety is guaranteed which is important in SA.

We recently had a four-day stay in Joburg, and Ashdown House was recommended to us. We now know why. The estate is just lovely, and the room (#9) was large, beautiful, and very well appointed. The most notable feature, however, is the staff. They are delightful - warm, friendly, and willing to go out of their way to make a guest comfortable. From the welcoming sherry, to the hot breakfast prepared despite the load-shedding power outages, to the manager running out to pick up take-out for us, everything was perfect. If our travels bring us back to Joburg, we will be back!

I've been using Ashdown for 3 years now and have called it home away from home for almost over 120 bed nights and 120 and many more to come. Friendly, warm, inviting, refreshing, private and safe. Thanks!

Ashdown House is amazing. The best guesthouse/hotel i have ever stayed at. It is in a great area! Peaceful, safe and quiet. Glynis and the rest of the staff are so friendly and welcoming. It is the perfect place for anyone, anytime! Everything was amazing and the food is DIVINE! Defiantly deserves more than 5 stars. :)

Ashdown house in one of the finest hotels I’ve ever stayed at. The wonderful and warm welcome, the luxurious rooms, the spacious garden; it all makes you feel at home in this big city: Johannesburg.
Ashdown house is located in a secured, safe area. I would definitely recommend this hotel for those never been to Jo’burg before.
We booked this hotel on our first and last night. An early arrival was no problem, so wasn’t the late check out (6 pm). We were even upgraded to the luxurious suite without an extra charge.
If you are looking for luxurious accommodation in Johannesburg this is most definitely your best choice.

This was our second visit to Ashdown after a comfortable and enjoyable stay in February this year. We were again welcomed as family and well looked after. The breakfasts are amazing and the 24 hour honesty bar is quite handy!
The location is ideal for both Sandton City and the new Mall of Africa not to mention the numerous restaurants available within a short ride.

This is truly a beautiful place: attention to details and a lovely garden. Friendly staff - we felt looked after. Breakfast was excellent. Peaceful and quiet area with only the sound of birds in the trees. Well secured.

Ashdown House is beautiful and the perfect place to stay. The room was perfect and the breakfast was delicious. I loved the 'honesty' bar. The bed and breakfast is centrally located...only 15 minutes from Sandton.

Great personalised welcome and service. There is a relaxing lounge with an honesty bar overlooking a quiet garden full of wonderful birds. Well finished and equipped bedroom and bathroom with everything you need for a short stay.
