Not just ordinary puzzles

I love this crossword puzzle book because the puzzles are that kind where there is a theme, or a secondary puzzle to solve inside the puzzle. Somehow several of the answers relate to one another, to form another puzzle to solve. I like that kind of puzzle so much better than just the boring regular ones. Like for instance, the last puzzle has for clue number 40-Across: "In a classic 1989 movie scene, word cried 15 times by 71-Across in front of 1-Across (find the word in 15 places, including this answer, in this grid)" That is fun, and adds another whole dimension to the puzzle. Highly recommend! I only wish I knew what terms to search for, to find more puzzle books with this feature.

I think the ad boasts that there are no oblique or un-necessarily obscure clues/ spellings/ etc. Not so. The themes, clues & grids are clever, so I recommend it.

These puzzles are so much fun to solve! Many of these puzzles aren’t your standard crossword puzzles that you can solve just by knowing the answers. Instead, there is a hidden theme or riddle-type clue or answer that you must solve in order to solve the puzzle. For example, a specific letter might be excluded from or added to a few of the main answers in the crossword, but you are given the clues to solve that. Some of them take an hour or less, and some have required a couple of days to fully complete. (And I gave up on a few too.) The content is general knowledge and specific trivia, with some slightly obscure clues here and there. If you enjoy unique crossword puzzles that also require another layer of thinking and problem-solving, you will love these!

The writer of these crossword puzzles takes ALOT of license in formatting these puzzles. He will add as much as 5 letters into one letter cell. Many references ARE obscure. If you are not current with rap music, old movies that did not make the top 50 and the names of stars in these movies, names of songs from the 80's that no one ever heard of unless you listened to AM radio and remember them and other obscure stuff, you will be frustrated with these puzzles. They were not fun for me and I am not a fan of easy puzzles. Sorry.
