Phil Earnshaw is a director based in Toronto. In a previous career he was a cinematographer and is on the executive of The Canadian Society of Cinematographers. He has long been associated with the Degrassi franchise; first shooting the series back in the 1980s and more recently directing multiple episodes of the reborn series. He is also known for his directing on Being Erica, The Border, Cracked, Little Mosque, and many others.
Phil Earnshaw directed the episode of Degrassi: The Next Generation "My Body is a Cage", which garnered the series a 2011 Peabody Award as well as a 2011 Emmy Nomination for Best Children's Program.
