No meaningful plot. Lead actor very dry, and monotone. Definitely not a noir. But had a few decent scenes.

A good film, well worth seeing. The Archive has already posted an undamaged print, with all scenes in the right order at: http://www.archive.org/details/Inner_Sanctum_movie. It should remove this copy.

After a totally confusing first 15 minutes,it dawned on me that a number of scenes were shown out of sequence.
The print was as bad as you can get but there is certainly an entertaining little story in there somewhere.

This movie is a undiscovered classic of Film Noir. An often creepy and dark film, with great dialogue, unusually subtle characterizations and solid acting, it is amazingly mature for its time. The ravishing Mary Beth Hughes and the charismatic Charles Russell have great chemistry in this film.

Subject: Very Bad Print
Subject: Very Bad Print
This short film isn't too bad, kind of like an early version of 'Outer Limits' or an expanded 'Twilight Zone', but the quality of the print is deplorable.
One sequence at the beginning has been chopped up and spliced together out of sequence, and more sloppy splices, missing dialogue and numerous screen artifacts and blotches mar the whole experience.
Unfortunate, because the film is pretty tight and well acted, professionally done on every level. I rate the film, not this print.

Although this film is a bit choppy at the beginning, it is very good and you are surprised at the ending. The ending makes it a Must-see!! Also is interesting for showing a time when people didn't spend their time with all the things we take for granted, that would come in later years [eg. TV] and just talked or played checkers! Also notice the steel cans of Schlitz beer, which had to be opened with a can-opener.
