S3 E9: Even though Kermit asks everyone to be on their best behavior, this episode of The Muppet Show is for the birds—but in totally excellent ways! When Gonzo hears their guest star Liberace is holding auditions for the special closing concert, dedicated to all the birds, he tries to get a slot for his tap-dancing chicken act. Meanwhile, work starts on the remodeling of the Muppet News Studio (in the middle of the newscast), and the Swedish Chef gets roasted when he develops a case of “in-grown coffee pot” and receives a house call from Nurse Piggy, Dr. Bob (Rowlf the Dog) and Nurse Janice from Veterinarian’s Hospital. So much for dignity! For the truly grand finale, Liberace treats everyone to a concert featuring the Bird Dancers. His first number: an awe-inspiring arrangement of “Chopsticks”!
