George W. Hewlett High School

About

George W. Hewlett High School Students have an active voice through Student Council, Site-Based Shared Decision-Making Team, and the Principal’s Advisory Committee. The school showcases impressive student musical, dramatic and comedic talent. In addition to its particularly wide selection of 18 Advanced Placement courses, Hewlett offers college-credit courses from Syracuse University Project Advance and Long Island University. George W. Hewlett is an outstanding secondary school, ready and able to serve, with programs that are designed to meet the needs of all students.

At the Learning Center special education teachers work with small groups of designated students on specific skill development such as reading and writing enrichment, organizational and study skills, and self-advocacy. Assistance is also provided in helping students meet the New York State learning standards for particular subject classes. This skill development is grounded in meeting the specific IEP goals and testing accommodations for each student. Learning Center teachers maintain open communication with academic teachers, Pupil Personnel Services staff, and parents in order to ensure that our students achieve academic success during their high school years.
