You can read about the cultural history of various Indigenous tribes in the area. Its great for photo ops, taking a break, letting the dog out and taking time for a picnic. Lots of parking. It is a landmark feature of Medicine Hat AB. You can also Ingress here.

For something a bit different, check out their historical research room which contains many of the local history books of communities written by locals about locals and for the research buff who likes to now more than just what they can see.
The gallery is always a good 20 minute walk and the community history displays are well done and interesting with excellent documentation. Go to a show there and enjoy great seating, meet locals and see some fine concerts, films and one man shows or bands. Saw the Banff Film Fest movies there this winter over 2 days. Awesome....Love the helpful volunteers there! Great underground parking just not for RV's.

Our daughter and son in law got married at the top viewing centre. There is a dog walk, paved routes and great for biking, swimming, picnicking, outdoor dates, enjoying fishing, duck watching, paddle boarding. Life guards on site. Sand based beach and swimming hole with filtered water. Snack bar, washrooms and music at the beach. Playgrounds and lots of non plug in parking. Great for kite flying and e biking too. We go there spring to late fall.

Winter: Tobboganning hill with climbing stairs with rails. You can find enough snow to do 1/2 or more of cross country skiing in the park.

Summer: There always seems to be a baseball game during the week in the cooler early evening hours you can come watch. You can play beach volleyball or kids can play on a number of playground site equipment. There are lots of picnic sites and basketball hoops to play under. Great for walking and even better paved roads and lots of them for ebiking. You can ride under the highway through a tunnel to the climbing hill to the Saamis Teepee. Almost a seperate area within the park is there for birders who want to see orioles, chickadees, blue jays and whiskey jacks living in a natural water habitat. There is a totem carving. there are Leopard frogs to look for and lots of signage to explain natural areas in the park. Note: no smoking allowed in the park.

Dogs: Its an onleash area but they do have a watering bowl outside the brick washroom building closest to the highway. You gotta watch out for the odd snake near the natural waterways.

Perfect for family reunions for cookouts or group celebrations that are bbq related. There is a cookhouse for sudden rainy weather. Lots of washrooms and an outdoor bandshell.

Despite being beside the highway its fairly quiet due to the large number of trees in the park absorbing the sound. Some music festivals are held. Check with the local visitors centres.

Police Point is more of a back to nature with amenities. There are often natural events happening there you can participate in. We love to run our dog while we ebike the various trails there. You do have to watch out for the odd snake (rarely) and clean up after your pet but its very natural with trees, a branch of the river flowing nearby and natural gravel paths. Great for mountain biking! there are benches throughout and a washroom in the parking lot. And best of all its free!

Nicely set up tasting room/restaurant with an impressive range of beers some of them award winning. On the edge of town in a light industrial area (pump up your GPS). Very friendly service (hey, this is smallish town Alberta after all) and very popular with locals. My only bleat is that the beers could have been served a bit colder. Had a delicous chicken sandwich which went nicely with my flight.

Want somewhere with the look of nostalgia but with new age movies and food. Take in dinner and movie courtesy of the restored Monarch theatre. From the refurbished seats to the grand movie stage to the front lobby which boasts popcorn and soda and candy just like it was back in the heyday of the movie theatre. The price is cheap at 14.00 for two and the staff are all volunteers who have worked hard to maintain the look of the theatre. A great way to eat out cheap and to take in a movie.

Love this theatre group. Also love Rock of Ages... seeing this show was a must. And was NOT dissapointed - it amazes me how effortless everyone makes these productions feel. From sound, to light, to stafe, to acting, singing Nd dancing. We are considering the purchase of a seasons pass. Its that good.

On our way to Maple Creek SK, we stopped by to get more information of a nearby attraction. The person who helped us (very friendly), helped clarify where we should go and wat we need to see. The advice and information we received literally saved us so much time. In the end we ended up where we wanted to be. Recommend not just a bathroom break, but also for the advice.

Great place to sample local pottery,

This is an enjoyable market to walk around....they have a bit of everything and the prices are very fair. The live music is a nice bonus. We love to come here every time we are in Medicine Hat

This park has something for everyone. Benches galore and places to sit for the older folks, a train and a tank to climb for the kids, a bandshell for the musically inclined or if it rains, a veteran's memorial, placques and brickwork along with flower beds, brick walks and trees mix with views of the south Saskatchewan river to produce a place of calm in the centre of the city. Great on a hot day or for a walk and many enjoying having a snack or their lunch in this pleasant spot in the heart of the Hat.

Some of my most peaceful and beautiful photos have been taken here. Just a short drive and you are surrounded by peace and quiet and beauty. Good for singles, couples and families. I have never found it crowded...nice!

This place has it all. Micro fiche of the Medicine Hat News from inception forward, E books, movies, music, a very good children's theatre and numerous book sections on 3 levels. You can read mags, papers and enjoy the sun while you knit, stitch or just take a break. Lots of local usage. A card is only 5.00. Usage is free. Lots of other services there to enjoy. Local and paid staff volunteers. Great place to meet locals. Ingress site.
