ABS-CBN News reporter MJ Felipe shared on his Twitter account that box-office director Wenn V. Deramas has died today, February 29 due to cardiac arrest. He was 49.

Direk Wenn is the man behind Vice Ganda’s box-office movies such as The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin, The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin, Sisterakas, Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy, and the 2015 Star Cinema Metro Manila Film Festival entry, Beauty and the Bestie which has earned the title “Highest Grossing Filipino Film of All Time.”

In ANC's interview with the director's close friend June Rufino, Direk Wenn went to Capitol Medical Center at 2 am. There were several attempts to revive him but to no avail.

She also disclosed that Direk Wenn already underwent heart surgery or angioplasty last year.

His remains will be bought to Arlington in Araneta. Details of the funeral will be announced soon.

Stars close to the director have immediately posted their condolences via Twitter. Vice Ganda was the first to express his sadness over the demise of his close friend.
