Default Radar sensor location on front bumper?

I have a 2021 Lariat Screw 502A package. Are there radar sensors in the front bumper? I was under the impression that all front "sensing" was done by the camera. Are the circled items the radar sensors? If so I dont have any on the front bumper. I bought an after market bumper and the body shop says that the radar sensors cant be mounted anywhere

The ones you have circled are parking sensors. There is also a radar sensor behind the plastic piece to the right of the license plate on the front bumper that is used for adaptive cruise control if you have that feature.

You can mount the radar sensor anywhere within reason: it is part of the ACC system and detects range to (and probably also relative velocity of) the car ahead of you. Essentially, you need to orient it such that the radar is facing toward the hazard (car in front of you) that it is likely to encounter. I replaced my front bumper, so I had to remount it. I found that it works fine at roughly stock height and offset to be roughly in front of the driver.

If its behind the plastic piece I assume it doesn't need an opening or unobdstructed "line of site" (I realize its not a visual sensor). Does it matter if its behind metal instead of plastic? If it's in a different location is there any type of recalibration that's required?

It works behind plastic fine.

It cannot be behind metal.

You cannot move it. It needs to be where it is.

The parking sensors in the bumper are not radar, they are ultrasonic sensors. They will get blocked by snow and ice.

The sensor(s) hidden behind the bumper are radar. There is also a camera located by the rear view mirror looking at the road. Both are calibrated, any movement requires re-calibration.

I guess it would depend on what your aftermarket bumper looks like as to whether or not there is a suitable location to mount it. If there is, it would certainly need to be recalibrated as mentioned.

If you don't have the radar sensors your cruise control and or Bluecruise will not work properly

It is located behind the drivers side pad on the bumper, and yes it can be relocated, once it has been you need to go thru a relearn with forscan. I did this method with my SVC Off-road bumper.
