Nine Lashes

About Nine Lashes

Nine Lashes is an American Christian rock band from Birmingham, Alabama formed in 2006. The band was formed by Adam “Tank” Jefferson and original drummer Keith Cunningham. Jared “Gus” Lankford and Adam’s brother Jon Jefferson joined as bassist and guitarist, and lead singer Jeremy Dunn joined in 2007.

They independently released their first album, Escape, in 2009 before Trevor McNevan of Thousand Foot Krutch brought them to the attention of Brandon Ebel, founder and president of the label Tooth & Nail Records, who signed them to the label on June 27, 2011.

In October of 2011, Nine Lashes was selected to join fellow Tooth & Nail labelmates I Am Empire on their Kings and Queens Tour, along with Blood and Water. They also joined the American leg of RED’s REDvolution Tour in February and March of 2012. “Anthem Of The Lonely” from 2012’s World We View took the band to the top of the Christian Rock Chart for the first time. Then songs from 2014’s From Water To War took them there four more times.

Nine Lashes' fourth album Ascend marked a drastic change in sound, abandoning hard rock for an EDM/synthpop sound. But several singles they’ve released since, including “Guilty Hands”, “Shadows” and “Dear Self”, show a return to their rock roots.

As of 2020 the band members are lead singer Jeremy Dunn, guitarist/bassist Jonathan David Jefferson, guitarist/bassist Andrew Joseph Jefferson, and drummer Noah Terrel.
