Manchester United are reportedly interested in acquiring the services of 23-year-old OGC Nice left-back Melvin Bard.
According to a report by Evening Standard, Manchester United are looking to reinforce their squad ahead of next season. They are expected to push hard for a new left-back and have their eyes set on Melvin Bard, who has been a consistent performer for OGC Nice.
Melvin Bard’s time at OGC Nice
Bard came up the ranks at Lyon before joining OGC Nice in the summer of 2021. He has gone from strength to strength over the years and of late, he has been an integral part of their first team.
In the ongoing season, the 23-year-old has featured in 28 matches and has even contributed towards two goals. While his numbers are not super impressive, he has managed to put in quite a few impressive performances this term, and his attacking abilities have attracted a lot of attention.
Bard’s current contract with Nice runs until the summer of 2026, the club are looking to offer him a new deal with improved terms. While they are looking to open contract renewal talks with the French full-back, there is also a possibility of him leaving in the summer.

Manchester United are interested in acquiring Melvin Bard’s services. And since he is already playing under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS ownership in France, a summer move to Old Trafford might not be that complicated. It could be a win-win situation for both clubs, with Nice raising decent funds and Manchester United resolving their problems at left-backs.
While reports suggest that Manchester United are looking for a right-back, their priority is to ensure they add another left-back to the mix. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have both struggled with injuries this term. As a result, they have featured without a proper left-back of numerous during the ongoing season.
The Red Devils want to avoid such circumstances in the future. They want to have enough quality as well as depth at left-back. So, Manchester United feel Bard could be a great cost-effective option for them. He is attacking in nature and is exactly the type of full-back they are looking for.
