Over the course of his 13-year-long career for Team India, Ravindra Jadeja has been a subject to constant speculation in the media. Be it his place in the team, his Indian Premier League commitments, or his injuries; Jadeja has been one of the most talked about cricketers in Indian cricket. In recent days, his future with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has coome under the scanner following the captaincy saga in 2022.
On Tuesday (August 30), Jadeja opened up on the consistent rumours he has to face and played down the impact on him and stated that his only focus remains on doing well for Team India. After a journalist pointed out that there were reports that he will miss the world cup due to injury, Jadeja recalled reading a news that he has passed away.
"You have mentioned a very minor example (of a rumour) that I won't be available for the World Cup. In between, there was a rumour that I had died. It can't get bigger than this. I don't think about all these (rumours). I focus on going to the ground, playing and performing well for the country," Jadeja said in a pre-match press conference.
"I want to improve on whatever is needed to perform well for my team. That's it. Day in and day out, I practice bowling, batting and fielding," he added.
Jadeja played a key role in India's victory over Pakistan with a solid knock of 35 in 29 balls. To the surprise of many, the all-rounder was promoted to the number four spot in the batting order and did well to counter the threat of left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz and leg-spinner Shadab Khan. Apart from Jadeja, there was no left-hander in India's batting unit with Rishabh Pant not making the playing XI.
India will look to seal top spot in Group A and book their place in the Super 4 stage when they face Hong Kong in Dubai on Wednesday.
