Hello my name is Theresa and I am currently a junior at Joliet west Highschool. My experiences here have been alright there are many ups and downs on my experiences. Joliet west highschool is a good school when it comes to safety, resources, and comfortablity. But when it comes to feeling comfortable and belonging it is okay. I would like to see more culture and events for students of all races.
I feel as if the school isn't a bad place to learn basic subjects and some extra subjects. I think I was disappointed though when I found out there were not any classes that supported my career choice (Film). The closest class they have is photography, and the things we learned wouldn't help much with the skills in my career. Also, safety has been an issue because there are constant fights and it's been like that ever since I started school. The school hasn't done much to combat the issue but I'm not sure if they would be able to. The security guards try their best to stop the fighting but 8 times out of 10 I see school counselors and administrators getting to the fights first and stopping them.
I think overall it is just an ok, average education. There isn’t too much that makes it notable. Aside from some good sports organizations and good teachers.
