Café de Coral Holdings Limited (SEHK: 0341) announced that the Group has obtained the Diamond Award at GS1 Hong Kong Quality Food Scheme Plus for the fifth consecutive year, recognising its strenuous efforts to implement high food safety and traceability standards in the supply chain.

Placing a high importance on food safety, the Group has formulated control and monitoring system on food operation and management, as well as source control to reduce food safety risk, ensure product quality and protect consumers’ health.

The Group’s major food processing centres in Hong Kong and Mainland China hold internationally accredited food safety standards - ISO 22000 and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification for food quality and safety management. Corporate Food Safety Policy was also implemented to minimise the risks associated with food including storage, processing and distribution.

Café de Coral Group has established a comprehensive traceability system which stores all vital information of the ingredients such as supplier details, origin, quantity, production date and more. The system enables the Group to keep track on the suppliers’ performance for regular review, and to undertake product recall in a systematic manner when necessary. Stringent supplier assessment and selection processes are in place to maintain the quality of its food supply.

The Group also invested in advanced technology and equipment in its food manufacturing and processing to standardise product quality and secure consistency. GS1 automation system is applied to the manufacturing process to improve the production yield of raw materials.

With the growing demand for healthy and sustainable food, the Group takes social and environmental factors into consideration in the procurement process. It promotes products with no added antibiotics and hormones as well as sustainable seafood certified by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).
