And I went through a lot of things. But here I stand, better than before. I never changed for anybody. I still live in North Carolina, I'm a North Carolina girl and I remain humble."

Fantasia continued:

"And I know that if it had not been for this show...This show opened so many doors. So I'm saying to you, and all of you who are watching, this show opens doors and we're grateful for it and thank you."

Fantasia's views about whether she would live to replace Katy Perry as a judge on American Idol

In April 2024. Fantasia spoke to Entertainment Tonight about potentially taking over for Katy Perry after season 22. The alum told the publication during the TIME 100 Gala that she would love to take over as a judge.

She noted that she didn't hear about Perry stepping down but said that if the producers reached out to her, she would be interested.

"I'm gonna be honest, I would love to. I think that those kids, when they're coming into the game, I think that they need somebody to come in and not only show them how to sing a song, but how to handle the business because it's a lot," she added.
