Local businesses are being encouraged to apply for a stall at the upcoming Taste Bundaberg Market.

Local flavour will be on the menu this September with the return of the popular Taste Bundaberg Market as part of the annual 10-day Taste Bundaberg Festival.

The region’s food producers, growers and businesses are being invited to showcase their wares at the market which this year returns to the beautiful riverside location of Alexandra Park on Saturday 7 September.

Council’s Tourism, Airport and Information Technology Services Portfolio spokesperson Councillor Steve Cooper said the market was a wonderful occasion to celebrate the quality and abundance of the region’s agriculture.

“The market is a highlight of the Taste Bundaberg Festival, and brings together the community with producers, growers, and businesses, to enjoy the local flavours of the Bundaberg Region,” Cr Cooper said.

“Every year we see thousands of locals and visitors attend the market and snap up the amazing fresh produce and artisan goods on offer.

“It is also a great family day out, with free entertainment, food vendors, cooking stage and a fantastic, relaxed atmosphere.”

The market will offer a range of produce and goods including farm fresh produce, seafood, butcher, condiments, sauces, and other local food products.

Bookings for the market are being co-ordinated by Community Events Management and Childers Fine Foods’ Nat Alberts who said the market is an ideal opportunity for growers and businesses in the region to showcase their quality products.

“We’d like to see the primary producers and manufacturers of local food products within the Bundaberg Region welcome this event with enthusiasm to showcase their products to the locals and travellers passing through,” she said.

“Have confidence in your product and showcase it.”

Nat said the market was also a great chance for the community to support the local agricultural community.

“We would like to see more of the local community [show] support for local farmers, when putting food on the table for their families.”

Stallholder applications for food vendors and market stalls are now open until Friday 23 August.

Taste Bundaberg Festival runs from 30 August to 8 September with a full program of events to enjoy.

Taste Bundaberg Market will be held 7am to 1 pm, Saturday 7 September in Alexandra Park, Quay Street, Bundaberg West.
