On the Couch with Rachel Everett-Jones

Rachel Everett-Jones AAR On the CouchWho is Rachel Everett-Jones?
First and foremost, I am a Wife, a Mother, a Daughter, a Sister and a Friend. What do I do to pay my way in this life? I sing and I absolutely love it. I am the director of a Corporate Band which goes by the name of Hamilton Band, and we fly around this beautiful country of ours and beyond, to facilitate fun. Sometimes it feels as though we are basically The Wiggles, but for Adults.

I have also worked as a Support Vocalist for artists the likes of Guy Sebastian and Stan Walker and am currently touring Australia as a Support Vocalist in The Little Red Company’s sassy cabaret, Rumour Has It. Did I mention that I am trying to do all of this whilst also trying to keep two of the cutest little munchkins alive?

My employment background is that I worked for 10 glorious years at an Entertainment & Events Company as a Booking Agent & Events Manager, where I would secure Major Touring Artists, Bands, Speakers and Specialty Performers for events.

I suppose you could say that I am overly passionate about how music, or even just guests walking into an event space that you have curated, can make people feel a certain way. I love the process of dreaming up an event, from concept to completion, including venue selection, entertainment design, styling, florals, staging, lighting, run sheet, and then watching guests have the time of their lives.

What would you do differently from what you do now?
I would spend my days sitting at a grand piano and would write original songs for myself and other artists. Songs that matter and songs that make people feel something.

Who inspires you and why?
My Husband Lai Utovou. He is the most talented human and yet the most humble and selfless. He is peace and excitement all wrapped up in one and an absolute ball of fun.

What would you do to make a difference in the world?
When I was 26 years old, I sold up all of my possessions to volunteer for a stint with the homeless and human trafficking victims in Los Angeles. If I won the lotto, you would probably find me doing the same thing, as I have a heart for people who others might think are just too-hard basket.

Favourite holiday destination and why?
Santorini, Greece. I felt like I had woken up in a film set. It was so picturesque. We had a private boat tour of the Caldera and it is something that I will never forget.

When friends come to town, what attraction would you take them to, and why?
I would have to say, Howard Smith Wharves. It’s such a vibe and has a magnificent outlook of Brisbane City.

What are you currently reading?
Facebook. Lol.

What are you currently listening to?
Jazmine Sullivan.

Happiness is?
Having peace and being content with what you have.

What does the future hold for you?
I hope that my future holds health, wealth and prosperity for me and my most dear. I also hope that my future sees me being a little less of a perfectionist and a bit more of a risk taker.
