Wisconsin Football Eyes Addition of Talented Defensive Lineman in 2025 Class

Wisconsin Football Welcomes Elite High School Talent for Key Visit

The University of Wisconsin football team is on the brink of securing a commitment from a premier defensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class, signaling a significant boost to their defensive roster.

247Sports analyst Evan Flood has projected that Gordy Sulfsted, a highly sought-after defensive line recruit, is leaning towards choosing the Badgers. This speculation puts Wisconsin in an advantageous position as they look to strengthen their defensive lineup.

Sulfsted, hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, boasts an impressive rankings profile as the No. 607 player nationally, positions himself as the No. 60 defensive lineman in the country, and is recognized as the No. 20 high school player in the state of Ohio.

Currently, Sulfsted has received 24 scholarship offers from a range of competitive programs across the nation, including Washington, Miami, Illinois, Iowa, Duke, Indiana, Louisville, Minnesota, Purdue, amongst others.

The recruitment effort for Sulfsted initially began under the guidance of former Badgers defensive line coach Greg Scruggs, who made the scholarship offer in January. However, responsibilities have since shifted to EJ Whitlow, with Sulfsted and Whitlow having the chance to establish a rapport during a visit in March amid spring practice sessions.

Throughout his junior year at St. Xavier High School, the 6-foot-5, 240-pound Sulfsted demonstrated his defensive prowess, accumulating 41 tackles, six tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks.

Sulfsted’s recruitment journey has led him to schedule official visits with Duke and Wisconsin, opting to visit Duke first before heading to Madison the following week. Given the positive predictions towards Wisconsin, the Badgers are hopeful that Sulfsted’s upcoming visit could be the deciding factor in his recruitment.

As it stands, the Wisconsin football program is yet to secure a commitment from a defensive lineman for the 2025 class. Despite this, they have already received ten commitments, positioning their class 20th nationally according to the composite rankings. A commitment from Sulfsted would not only enhance their defensive line but also serve as a marquee addition to Wisconsin’s progressively strengthening recruiting class.
