Durham to host women's softball championship

OSHAWA, ONT. - Durham College will host the 2024 OCAA Women's Softball Championship at Babcock Field from October 17-19, 2024.

Durham College has a long history of stepping up to host provincial and national championships. Just since 2018, the Lords have hosted 11 OCAA and CCAA championships. In addition to this tournament, Durham is also scheduled to host the 2025 CCAA Women's Volleyball Championship.

"We look forward to welcoming student-athletes, coaches, fans and officials to Babcock Field for what promises to be an unforgettable championship experience," said Scott Dennis, Director, Athletics & Recreation.

Babcock Field is located on the south end of the Oshawa campus. The facility has been recently renovated to an artificial turf surface, with additions of new stadium lighting, batting cages, a digital scoreboard, and fan seating that includes an elevator lift and a media box.

This will mark the eighth time that the province's best collegiate softball teams will gather in the Durham Region for an OCAA Championship. In the seven previous hosting opportunities, the Lords won gold medals at all seven.

Women's softball at Durham proudly boasts one of the most successful histories in collegiate softball. The Lords have won a total of 38 OCAA and five CCSA medals dating back to 1981.

With 21 gold medals, the Lords have won more OCAA championships than any competing post-secondary institution.

The Lords are deep on the recruiting trail as the team continues to prepare ahead of the 2024 season beginning in September.

In June, the OCAA will release the regular season schedules for the 2024-25 season.
